I knew of wi-fi, but had never experienced it until the PSP. Sonic Stage also utilizes the PSP to it's fullest, by compressing songs,which I didn't use until the PSP. All in all, the PS3 sounds like it's ready in a big way to take us all well into the future of entertainment. 19 -

I just hope Sony can handle the backwards compatability problem better than MS did (I don't want to lose my catalogue of PS2 games). Oh, and to rtfakktor in post #5, DVD format is going to make a big difference especially in gaming. Current dual layer DVDs, which is what the xbox 360 is using, can only store about 9 gigs of info where are a blu-ray DVD can store about 50 gigs. And MS has stated that even if later 360s are built with HD DVD (the format they were initially going to use) their games won't support the format, it will just be for movies. So, MS is going to be compressing their games a lot, which makes for in play slow downs if the system is constantly decompressing. Whereas the PS3, using the blu-ray, won't suffer from that problem. Developers love lots of space/memory, so who do you think they'll like developing for more? 28 -

Every thinh starts off expensive at start and eventually goes down after 6 months or so. Microsoft is making a bad move by stayin with DVD now and upgrading to HD-Dvd later on. Even though they said HD-DVD wont be used for gaminng, alot of people who purchased x360 prior to the upgrade will surely suffer and be dissappionted. How would you feel if your newly x360 cant playin movies because its HD-dvd? 29 -

Looking at what they plan on selling this year (3 million) it should be pretty normal if 15,000 consoles are DoA. This would still be completely normal for a launch, anything above that and they better start worrying. We had this big blown up problem with the PS2 at launch if anyone remembers, also turned out in the end to be a small percentage. 47 -

All things smooth here so far. I bought a premium that was reserved back in May and then my wife ordered a core from circuit city website (they sold out of premiums but i figure hey i have a detachable hard drive I dont need two) and have not had any issues out of either one. 53 -

I've got an xbox 360Unregistered - undisputed2k6 11.24.2005 00:26 I've had my 360 system for 2 days now and have been playing it for over 5 to 6 hrs at a time. No problems here. It has been working like a charm. Yes, I'm a fanboy of both systems so I'm not biased. But I know all of you remember PS2 and their D.R.E.'s (DISC READ ERROR) problem. This was a problem for certain models. Point is no console is ever perfect when it comes out. That’s why u buy a warranty. So far I am thankful mine runs fine. But you can't reject a system because of a few bad apples. That will always be the case when humans are the ones who develop them. Till then, enjoy! P.S. - Madden 06 on x360 is da bomb but I rather EA took another month or 2 to add all the features rather than trying to hurry for launch day. But the game play is better and challenging as ever.... peace... 59 -

Im sure its in the typical percintile of DOA's on launch electronics. My PS2 stopped ejecting discs after about a year. Sent it in for repairs. A friend of mine had to send his Ps2 in after about 6 motnhs because his stopped reading discs. 3 years later and it's down for the count, again. For what you ask? Not reading discs again. So all this crap talk about quality is ridiculous. I've had several other sony products in my home throughout teh years that have crapped out within a year and a half. Because of that, the only Sony product in my home is the Ps2. With that said, I'm no fan of the Xbox. But, Microsoft has a damn good plan. They're stealing the market right out from under Sony. It's pathetic the leader in the video game industry is struggling to get their system out of development and into the market. If Sony announces a Spring '06 release for Japan, you can bet your bottom dollar that we wont see it until Winter '06. Bill Gates and his weasels will have nearly a full year of "monopalistic" power. Then when Sony gets off their collective asses and launches the Ps3 teh Gates clan will slash the price of the 360. And when MS brougt out the Xbox, I bought one for its capabilities for online services and the harddrive. And before all of these consoles, there was my Atari 2600, my Colecovision, NES, and on, and on. My point? I love all games. Even the PC. I just bought the 360. I love the new additions to Xbox Live they have made, and all of the games I have look and play sweet. I had problems when I bought the original Xbox and the PS2. Disc Read Errors, weird freezing problems, color me angry for all of those. Upon reading more about the problem, it looks like it may be a power source over heating. Have you seen the enormous power cord? HUGE! And there are some defective ones getting hot. I haven't seen it, yet, and I am keeping my fingers crossed. We keep calling MS idiots for not adopting Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. There is no winner in the DVD format wars. There is no clear leader, and anybody who says otherwise, well, it is hype. Sony is all about the propiertary format, just look at the memory stick. I am not sure if anybody remembers the original format wars between Beta and VHS, but I know plenty of people who bought the Beta which was backed by Sony, and lost out big time. I am hoping that the Blu-Ray works out for Sony, but I am also not holding my breath. I am looking forward to PS3, but with no games actually showing up in a playable format at the Tokyo Game Show, I have to worry that it will not be out by Spring 2006. And with it being more powerful and MS taking the 126 dollar a console hit, if Sony can make it $400... sweet. What I am looking forward to is the second generation of Xbox 360 games and the second generation of PS3 games. As soon as developers learn to harness the power of both systems, then we will see the real console wars. So everyone who has picked a side needs to be patient until the real thing heats up. 117 -

"Error, error, someone made a valid point against Xbox, quick, curse at them and make something up." The only thing you know about Cell is the rumors and conjucture you read. Sony has been very hush hush about everything which is why nobody knows for sure at what point in development the Ps3 is at. Thats why you should look at the big picture. Sony isnt going to let MS have a huge head start. But they are going to make sure its an awesome machine before they throw it out here to us. Thats where MS screwed up. And look at what happened, They have a HUGE shortage of machines and the ones that are out are freezing up and over heating. People are even calling it the Icebox 360. I've played it. The games are hardly better than the current xbox and nothing about it is next generation, Its just upgraded. Sorry to burst that bubble you call a head. Go play your 360 and hush. If its locking up then cry for a moment and then suspend it from the ceiling with strings, they say that helps. Hey, I am sure MS will send out an upgrade patch to fix the problems. Till then, try to shutdown and reboot, that sometimes helps with everything else MS makes. Me, I'll play my PS2 and patiently wait for the REAL NEXT GENERATION MACHINE to come out, The Playstion 3. I hope they make Ratchet or Jakk drive a school bus in the next game. Xbox doesn't have ANY games that even come close to those. Xbox fanboys think that Halo 1&2, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Fable, Mechassault, Half Life 2, Quake 4, Doom 3, Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Splinter Cell, Battlefield 2, Call of Duty 2, Project Gotham Racing, Forza Motorsport, Unreal Championship, Crimson Skies, Jade Empire, Morrowind, upgraded GTA's, and others pwn the PS2, but they are wrong. Yes its faster as a physics calculator etc, but its general processing ability is far less than the xbox 360. Also I would like to here a PS3 fanboys reasons for getting the PS3...that dont include the 2 video outputs (running at a cool 480p [xbox 1]) and the amazing ability to use 7 wireless controllers (confirmed by Sony as 7 bluetooth 'slots'). God even IGN got that wrong in their 10 reasons. Posts away (fan)boys I want to hear a real PS3 talk. p.s. No Killzone '2' crap aswell, again Sony has said that may be possible on 'PS4'. 122 -

I used to love the N64 then saw the 'amazing graphics' of the PS2 on a demo video of MGS I was won over by the visuals and almost bought one, that was one I actually played Halo (note the played part in that sentance) at a game store in france. It ended up that the graphics of MGS were no where no as good as the video - how typical of Sony. I was planing on getting which ever console was best and had my favorite games, which incedentally the 360; the PS3 will not be much better then the 360 and it has slowly lost all the features that made it better. If you wish to wait another 6 months (atleast) for the 'games' you have seen, feel free. But Id personally rather get better ones now. What exclusives does Sony have now? 123 -

Let's see, more power for i guess and hope the same price, perhaps little higher. And 1080p is off course a nice extra for a future hd-tv. Xbox360 games, I don't like them atm. Oblivion would be a very good reason, but I'm getting it on PC, so... and off course I still have to buy a game for ps2, it's not dead lol. And well ok, I had ps, ps2 so after 2 comes 3 :). But hey, those are my reasons, give yours and lets discuss about it. 124 -
