Sony joined Japan's biggest retailers, publishers and developers in a discussion with the Tokyo government last week to discuss the issue of violent videogames and their alleged associated effects on children. Sony reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of minors from violent videogames with the announcement of in-built parental controls for the PS3.
Sony appeared determined to provide self-regulatory functionality to its hardware devices, putting the decision over content firmly back in the hands of the parents and drawing the decision away from developers and retailers. The government was reminded that the Sony PSP has parental control functions built in, and Sony confirmed that a similar, more comprehensive system would be implemented in its PS3 console when it launches next year. You wait see anything until after xbox 360 launches cause sony has to use the information and ideas from MS to improve their system and functions. Sony is very good at marketing, the ps3 is far from the release date, It wouldn't be a good idea to flood everyone with all the news at one time. They're in perfect position to release any news at any time they want. They can release info about online play, eye toy and how it will be incorporated into the ps3, they can show a new controller, and of coures games. You see they have the element of surprise and when they feel their is too much attention going towards the xbox 360 then sony will release some info. Sony has nothing to fear, all is going well for sony, blu ray is about to win the war with hd dvd. I know sony will look at thier online service, and their software to see how microsoft's media and music downloading plays out. But Xbox 360 is soon to come out and there is not to much info that sony doesn't already know, but of course xbox 360 could probably have upgrades later on and it would be too late for sony to incorporate it into the ps3. 9 -

But PS3 will be a fully grown machine and it will mayby better then 360 for online. They will have more time and will see what 360 has done and they will have a chance to do better. The "marginal(tiny) difference in performance" is only your opinion, on paper the cell is much more powerfull then the 360's xenon, i will concede that it is more diffucult to program for and if the programmer doesn't put the extra effort it could end-up being similar to 360. The only point you have is that you like the style of games... but this changes with time (who would have thought Nintendo would have survival horror on their console). 20 -
