According to Kojima Productions, a subdivision of Konami set-up to handle Metal Gear and Hideo Kojima's other works, the Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer that will be on display at the Tokyo Game Show next week will be running on actual PlayStation 3 hardware.
Since most of the trailers that were shown at E3 earlier this year were only meant to represent PS3 graphics, it will interesting to finally get to see some “real” action from the Sony camp. So this time we will see actual PS3-generated content, and not just footage rendered to a certain target specification. Konami will have a own event at TGS dedicated to Metal Gear called "Metal Gear Saga ~ Metal Gear Show in TGS 2005", which is set to run the new MGS4 trailer several times a day. Metal Gear Solid 4 returns to the post-MGS2 timeline, with Solid Snake as the main character, and will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive. MGS creator Hideo Kojima will be producing and directing the game together with Shuyo Murata, while Yoji Shinkawa returns as character designer. Sounds like good news to us. Add Comment  1 -

Still it was a good gameUnregistered - Scythe 09.09.2005 13:23 I didn't mind that added stuff, I mean it gave you the feeling that your in the Jungle you have to survive not just from being shot but from stariving to death. The repair setup was very nice aswell, when you got shot you have to remove the bullet and bandage yourself, you break a bone snap it back and get going. It's what made the game so much fun and if it wasn't there it wouldn't have seemed as detailed as it was. You fall from a tree and not break something well why not just put spider-man in it and play as him. Can't wait to see the trailer though it's going to be awesome. 6 -
More scenematics!leathel 09.09.2005 20:44 I love playing the series, the scenematics are way cool, almost playing a movie, though I must say that the radio-com on the last series was rather anoying :P I get tired of looking at some face for an unreasonable prolonging amount of time, who talks for 15 minutes during a shoot out?!?! geees... MGS1 had a good sequense goin with the story telling and the action, MGS2 sometimes mixed the two, the sequel/prequel(3) just throws a story in the middle of everything - is like reading a book where they explain something from the past that the character knows right before a fight begins or something happens, you just want it to end so you can see what the heck happens, lol :) It's a great game though- the FX are 80% Hollywood style :) sometimes better than. 7 -

Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.11.2005 17:49 I was really let down by MGS 3. It seemed more of the same in general, of course the enviroments were great at the start. But there seemed to be quite alot of bugs and faulty AI that ruined it for me. I think the MGS series is going to have to deep dig, as they now have serious competition from Splinter Cell that in itself is of course also a great game. The third in the series was a great improvement, hopefully this will motivate the MGS team to go all out on this next one ;-) 15 -

Patrick 09.11.2005 18:40 First, #11 Ninja Gaiden doesnt come close to the MGS games. I played it and felt it was second rate and hardly innovative. Second #12 I went to that website and I think it looks great, but doubt very seriously Sony is "scared" as you say or even all that concerned with Microsoft. If the were then the PS3 would be coming out back to back with the 360. Instead they are patiently waiting to see what Xbox will do and making sure the PS3 is the highest quality, and who can blame them. The PS2 has done and is doing great with alot more games coming out. Next, I am sure the PS3 will cost more than the 360, but hey, It will be a great gaming system and a Blu-ray player so you get what you pay for. No matter what you say, Sony is known for Quality, they have their problems but Every company does. I know without a doubt that Sony will be the lead once again, Besides, you cant truly know how good or bad something will look till you see it. The only reason we are seeing so much from Microsoft is because they have a Machine coming out very soon, once we get closer to the PS3 release then the games and footage will come pouring out of the woodwork. Anyway, the only amazingly idiotic (Sorry, but it's true) thing I want to comment on is you comparing MGS and Ninja Gaiden. Not only can they totally not be compared, saying one is better than the one, how you go on to say it is second rate is almost disgusting. There are some games, no matter if you're a fanboy, or it's just not your thing, that you just can't put down. I really cannot believe you would be able to play Ninja Gaiden, and not have great things to say about the layout, gameplay, graphics, or extremely difficult experience overal. Innovative? What the hell was innovative about MGS 2 or 3 anyway? Absolutely nothing, unless you want to call a few tweaks in the gameplay innovative. Ninja Gaiden isn't supposed to be innovative, it's supposed to be a well rounded action-adventure game. And it pulls it off, as most will agree, it's the best console game of the last few years, with God of War and a few others that are contending for the spot. So, no matter how much you dislike Microsoft, Team Ninja, the xbox or whoever. Don't BS about such an amazing title, just say it wasn't your thing at most, and saying MGS is better is just completely naieve. 19 -

BLU-RAYPatrick 09.11.2005 21:58 Ok, First I take back what I said about Ninja Gaiden, I liked it. Just not as much as MGS. Now on to #20. Finally someone seems concerned with the Blu-ray PS3 release. The rumors you read were just that, RUMORS. Sony has too much banking on Blu-ray to take it out of the PS3. That would be bad for Blu-ray since they are pushing hard for it to be the next format. And it should be and we need to back Sony and the other Blu-ray backers to ensure we get the best format to take the place of dvd. Blu-ray is so much better than hd-dvd. It holds tons more and has a new protective coating that will make it alot harder to scratch. TDK created the durabis coating and they took a screwdriver and a sharpie marker to it and it still played. How many times have you gotten a rental or used game and its all scratched up like someone used it as a hockey puck. now I know that it makes the PS3 more expensive but big deal, youll be getting a Blu-ray player/ gaming machine for less than a plain Blu-ray player. (at first) So come on. Back the best and already winning format. Then maybe Gates will use blu-ray in the 360 instead of HD-dvd which is only second best. Which is probably what he is planning anyway since he hasnt Confirmed that he will actually use hd-dvd. He just said he may use it in the future. Which means he can switch to Blu-ray when they win. 23 -

I have it from the guy who fixed my PS2 that the parts that went into the initial release of the PS2 were absolute garbage and as a result the machine had to be recalled and was replaced in the second generation with increased quality parts. Now we have a machine that most likely will be rushed to compete with the 360, and be very expensive (most likely because of Blue Ray). In the interest of sales I hope that they won't compromise on the quality of the parts in order to keep the price down. I would rather pay more for reliability. 26 -

In fact the last version that came out (before the slim) is of such poor quality that according to the guy who repaired my console he "has to replace practically all the parts" in order to repair it. It was basically a disposable console. Now I'm asking myself why should the next generation be any different? You say that Sony is not rushing to get their conosole released. However I would suspect that because the smart business move would be to try and elimimate as much of Microsofts first mover advantage as possible they won't take their time releasing the PS3. This understandably worries me. What reason do I have to suspect that this time around if I buy the console on release day that the PS3 will be any better quality than last their last generation? Especially since the console is supposed to do a lot more things than just play video games. Sony will probably try and cut as many corners as possible to keep costs down. They would have to be crazy to think that a $500-600 console will sell well to the masses. Now regarding graphics, you are out of your mind. Most of the reputable sources out there stated that graphically there will be little difference between the two consoles. It is convenient for sure, but I would rather have games come with an extra disc or two than pay for the increased cost of games published on the Blue Ray discs. Last time I checked BR discs would significantly increase the cost, at least temporarily, of each movie or game that we purchase. I don't believe that releasing games on multiple discs will in any way reduce game quality i.e. graphics etc. I say wait and see. 35 -
