There will be no news posted in the next 3-4 hours due to a major site upgrade (as mentioned in my last post). We have for the past few months been working "secretly" on a major upgrade for all our game news sites. If everything goes as planed we will have the new website live later today.

Believe it or not, and ofcourse this is an opinion, but 360 doesnt have even a handful of buyable* games. If you take halo which is an awesome game outta the spin, i've never seen xbox to deliver anything really. Whoever wants to comment on Need4Speed, Medal of honor, etc... Anything produced by EA blows, and its becoming for the last serveral years quite obvious that this "Fortune 500" buisness is in it for the money, which lackluster games, and a deficient work ethic.(Overworking its employees) Whoever really belives That xbox franchise is "better" then the ps franchise, its oblivious to the most obvious deficienty in "worthwhile" games. When it comes down to it, its all about the games, and Thats where microsoft falls short, and who needs an 360 when you have a PC?? Anyone smart woulda have waited for the ps3 to release and then made an educated decions, like myself, and my decision has once again led me to ps3, seeing nothing very creative or interesting on the 360. I will Note that "Gears of War" looks like an incredible game, however, 360 doesnt need another FPS you know why? By producing GoW, Halo is going to lose a user base, unless its not that good then, it'll die like the rest of em. UpdateDusty 05.31.2006 16:49 Just posting to let everybody know that I have not fallen asleep , even though I am a bit tired after working for 24 hours :), We are working as fast we can with getting the new site up. The reason for the delay is simply that when we uploaded it to the server and we started testing it we realized we had to change a couple of things, and we also discovered a few bugs that have now been fixed. Disappointing sales have slowed the flow of movies on the proprietary Universal Media Disc to a mere trickle. At least two major studios have completely stopped releasing movies on UMD, while others are either toying with the idea or drastically cutting back. And retailers also are cutting the amount of shelf space they've been devoting to UMD movies, amid talk that Wal-Mart is about to dump the category entirely. Wal-Mart representative Jolanda Stewart declined comment on reports that the retailer was getting out of the UMD business. But studio sources said such a move was imminent. A check of a Wal-Mart store in Santa Ana, California, revealed a drastic shrinkage of UMD inventory. Several shelves of movies in the PSP section were gone; all that remained were seven UMD titles sitting bookshelf-style on the top of the PSP section, with no prices or other information. Universal Studios Home Entertainment had stopped producing UMD movies, according to executives who asked not to be identified by name. "It's awful. Sales are near zilch. It's another Sony bomb - like Blu-ray," one executive said. ADVERTISEMENT Nevertheless, Sony has vowed to stick by the announced May 23 launch date for the studio's first batch of Blu-ray titles, despite reports that the next-generation hardware needed to play the discs likely would not arrive in USstores until the following month. Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment also is said to be out of the UMD business. "We continue to evaluate the PSP platform for each title, and if it makes sense for business reasons and the target audience, we will release them," spokeswoman Brenda Ciccone said. "No one's watching movies on PSP," said the president of one of the six major studios' home entertainment divisions. "It's a game player, period." Observers speculated that the studios released too many movies, too fast. But while sales were initially strong - two Sony Pictures titles even crossed the 100,000-unit threshold after just two months - the novelty quickly wore off, observers say. The arrival last fall of Apple's video iPod only hastened the PSP's decline as a movie-watching platform. President of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Benjamin Feingold remained a believer in PSP as a movie-watching platform, but conceded that retail shelf space for UMD movies was in sharp decline and his own studio is being "more selective" in choosing movies for UMD release. Mr Feingold believed the PSP's biggest drawback as a movie-watching device was the inability to connect the gadget to TV sets for big-screen viewing, "which would have made it more compelling," as well as the inclusion of memory stick capability. They might have had 1 game ready for a Japanese lauch. Availability would have been atrocious until probably fall.. I know this hasn't been presented much, but I'm still not 100% convinced that Sony is going to pull off the November launch on time or in any significant quantities (ie. greater than 2M consoles worldwide). Sony is playing a huge gamble here again.. if they run into manufacturing issues, which is possible given the new hardware technologies they're producing, they are in a bad position. Remember, NONE of the E3 demos were running on final PS3 hardware. I'm not even convinced they were the final dev kits. If everything does go off well in terms of numbers, you certainly won't catch me buying a launch PS3. I have a feeling the failure rates are going to be significantly higher than 360s. Xbox 360 is "Not" Cheaper. "But MS will give us a $200 HD-DVD Player" well even if you get such a deal that puts you at $200 for the HD-DVD and $400 dollars 200 + 400 = $600 Tied with PS3. However, PS3 is a cleaner design with no bulky add-ons to worry about and the PS3 has more long term value and functionality with Bluetooth. Why did Sony offer a strip down $500 version - To make MS think twice before pulling a price drop. If Microsoft were to drop the Xbox 360 a $100 it would be priced at $500 and there would be a comparibly priced PS3 waiting at that price range as well. Sure the PS3 doesn't offer less or more than the Xbox 360 at the $500 dollar price range but at least you won't have that extra bulky HD-Movie Player sitting next to your console. Don't care about HD Movies? That's a bunch of bull.... Nobody pays for an expensive HDTV just to play video games and if you do well your an IDIOT. Broadcast HD is nowhere near as good as Hard Coded on Disc HD Movies. But I have a Standard Definition TV. Why did you by an xbox 360 for then. I gaurantee that the Wii will look a lot better on a standard tv because it is native to that format than Xbox 360 or a PS3 for that matter. There is already evidence of this. Not a lot of room on that small Dual Layer DVD discs to support multiple formats and downscaling/upscaling sucks. A real gamer doesn't care to much about the resolution anyways as long as Framerate, AA, lighting, shadows, etc.... are max and the Game itself doesn't suck (plot, playability, etc..). I've seen plenty of PC players beat people online at 800 x 600 resolution. I believe this is what Nintendo did with Wii. They improved on everything else and left the resolution at DVD quality it should be fine if they can deliver on everything else. After all we have yet to see a Desktop computer of console reach Lifelike graphics at any resolution so there is plenty of room left for improvement in the 800 X 600 category. If you want the Best value for your money and the cleanest design/setup don't sell yourself short get a PS3. If you are a real gamer then it won't matter what system you get because a real gamer defines a system by the games themselves and not the technology behind it. So the only thing you could then rate really is value. In that case Wii would Win at $250 with the ability to play DVD movies and has its own selection of great games. PS3 the HD Champ Wii the Overall Gamers Champ and best value sytem Xbox .... Loser Maybe next see ya later Dreambox's. 118 -

But for the PS3 to work great, you need a HDTV. Using a CRT TV, will either screw up the tv or screw up the PS3, so PS3 is just sucking you in into getting a HDTV.
