Soon what you see here at PS3 Today will be no more, but fear not, something bigger and better will take its place. The concept behind PS3 Today has been very successful and made it into one of the leading PS3 sites on the net. What has not been so successful is our forum/comment section which has seen its fair share of abuse. We have received many emails lately from frustrated members who are tired of the constant spamming of the comment section, which hinders any effort to have any intelligent discussion about the news posted. I understand that it may seem like we the staff have abandoned that ship long ago, however that is not the case. Or well I guess we could say we have abandoned it, but only because we for the last two months have been busy building a new ship. We took a long hard look at the site and asked ourselves what worked and what did not work so well. After two months of hard work we are confident that the new site will fix the problems mentioned earlier, and it will also be equipped with tons of new features while staying true to the original concept, which is to be the best online source for PS3 news. And to the spammers all I can say is enjoy the last few days, because that is all you get :) Add Comment  1 -

I have seen multiple posts where a poster will make a comment such as " looks good I hope it is coming to the 360. " After that all hell breaks loose. These people very well might not be "fanboys" but consumers looking for the latest gaming news. On the flipside I agree that all posts that are obviously flaming and spamming with foul language and racial and social slurs she be done away with, on both sides though. I hope you don't try to discourage XBOX owners that are truly looking for news and info on gaming from stopping here. 9 -

Being that I am a 24-year-old black male that makes about $25,000.00 – $30,000.00 a year I have to be wise about spending. I also am married with one kid. My wife and I work at the same job so our income is equal. I have been gameing since I was 4 and have had almost all the mainstream consoles since 1985. Gameing is exactly what I want it to be right now except for all the bias arguing and bickering. When we were young we would just pass the joystick argouing with out any disputes about which system was better because we agreed on one thing having fun. We knew the Nintendo had better graphics than Atari but we still pulled her out and played the hell out of pong all day. The super Nintendo was also better to look at graphically than the Sega Genesis but we just shrugged that off, as one was not the other one. When the play station and Nintendo 64 was out we had to look at it one way, what is better to play which games on. It was obvious that Playstion had a better joystick for sports games so played sports and fighting games on the PS but when it came to adventure games and shooters Nintendo had PS beat for a little while. Nintendo started to cater to kids more even on adult games I was a late teen so I was like screw that I want a Playstion it had awesome games like Resident Evil and Ttime Crisis 1 Knock out Kings Soul Caliber and so on and so on. 89 -

I graduate high school and have to get a job this is in 2000 when Sony announced PS2 I was like aw sh!t is on the best system to date I am grown and I can get this for myself. My mom was not going to spend $300.00 bucks for thin now I’m not a kid any more. She also sold all my older game stuff from before, another story there but my sh!t was gone and ant this point we were poor. So PS2 launches and the K.B. store across from the Footlocker I worked at was just over run by crazy moms and dads buying up all the PS2’s. They ran out the first hour they were open. The guys that worked there told us that they only had 15 or 20. By then I only had like $180.00 saved to get my own. People were coming across the hallway begging us for the ones we bought but only on guy at our store managed to get one but he got it from some Target out in the boonies. Those people were looking like monsters “I’ll buy it for $400.00, no sell it to me for $450.00.” and so on and so on. A few months later I was in the K.B. playing the game day demo and I saw an Xbox flyer with a Microsoft stamp on the bottom of it. I asked the dude that words there what it was he was like “That’s just the game system from Microsoft.” I was like damn the biggest computer soft ware company in the world is making a game console what it was going to be sick. But all my friends ended up having PS2 because their parents helped them get one. So my hart was set on a PS2 still but I never got a chance to get one. 90 -

We liked it I had all s the same games for PS2 and one of my buddies had Halo 1 but we were still playing 007 on 64 at that time too. So we never even opened Halo for like 2 months I just did not seem like it was sweet. One night a about 2:30 a.m. I decided to peel off the plastic and crack out halo and I was blown away because it was some thing I had never seen and it looked awesome and played really smooth compared to a lot of other games the environments were wide open and every think like Mario 64 but with shooter action of 007. I woke up all by homeboys and after convincing them not to kick my @ss I showed them the game we had been ignoring for 2 months. We played until like 8:00 in the morning. A little while later we would have arguments about which system (xbox or PS2) to play with because of the joystick. One side was like we never had a problem switching back and fourth before and the graphics were a little smother too the other side said they could only play games with the PS2 joystick no mater what. Most of thought that was utter bull crap. This is how the war first started they were all convinced the xbox joy stick was too big. We tried to convince them that it was just the joystick you will get used to it like the old Sega 3 button. But there was no convincing them. Then Microsoft heard their calls about the big joy and answered with the small stick. I was also relived with Microsoft choice. The small joy was perfect. But fight continued on. 91 -

It had new stick side-by-side comparisons of games always looked better on the xbox most notably in sports games and shooters. Ant the built in hard drive and the biggest monster Xbox live. But they still did not listen. So we chalked it up and began to have fun again no matter what system we played on even the game cube which put some dust on the PS2 too. Now I still don’t have one of my own until my mom surprises me with a make up for the past gift. I was so happy to have my own system it was not a bias thing it was then I want the best for my small buck. By this time we all only played on xbox because the system was better for our more adult minds. We could easily see that all of the games that were on both systems were better on xbox but we still played PS2 exclusives like Tekken, which has now gotten old like Street Fighter. I am grown with kids and a professional job “My money matters to me.” If you are a parent you know what I mean and a few of you are the same kid I was back in chapter 1 then and some of you still live in your parents home hoping, wishing, begging, and convincing them to the buy you another game system and most of your parents will. This generation of gaming is every thing I could have hoped for in the past and now today. If there is any one who is being disrespected by this console war its us the gamers. I am going to lay it down simple for you. And this is my opinion about what I see in the game world today. The PS3 will be sweet as far as being a game system but there is a fatal flaw here Sony has not done what game consoles have done for years and even them selves and that is innovate bring change or some thing that makes there console stand apart from the crowed. And on top of that they are in desperation mode right now and are hoping to us the gamers to save their company, which is what I would expect them to do, it is only business nature. Out side of being a game giant they would like to concur a media format and they are attempting to do that with blue ray tech., which is sweet, but if they did not go this rowt they would still be O.K. with putting games on DVD’s. But the point behind not doing so is so that they can have full market share for the new HD era not to supply you with the best game experience in any way. It is not 100% necessary but it is still cool. The next thing is the cell processor it is a great innovation but you can get the same performance out of AMD or dual core processors which in real life real time can out perform cell processing on a consistent level the sell can peak on a higher level but it can not sustain that peak. The joystick with out force-feed back Plain old sucks and you know that for real any one who denies it shows you brain washed like a man who claims he isn’t a homosexual but hangs out in homosexual bars. The price is outrageous $600.00. If you add another $25.00 you can pay my mortgage for one month. The console itself is $600.00 games $60.00 each joy sticks $50.00 each. I feel if you are #1 you should charge less than #2 & #3. Then to offer a $500.00version that dose not even upgrade to the Premium is simply an insult but its good marketing. You can get a premium Xbox 360 $400.00, 2 wire less joys $50.00 each=$100.00 and 2 games for $120.00 and still just be paying $620.00. That is strange how that cost the same as a PS3 premium package with out any games or extra joys or games. And they 360 is better hard ware all together and a better joystick and 1st party exclusives too. They do not even seem to be thinking of the current global economy at all. Most people make what I make and under. If you still want a PS3 get one but this deep in the new generation with all the switching of options and hype that turns out to be fake I say get one but at the same time the alterative are a better choice. I think in about 1 or 2 months most people will fold and get an Xbox 360 anyway because of true new 1st party games and no more reruns of sequels. And most games will be on both systems but you starting point is better with the Xbox because of cost. Do not let people fool you into thinking the PS3 will be better because of the Sony brand name or Blue Ray. Disc comacity is a non-issue DVD has 9-gig standard and the biggest game on 360 is Oblivion and is only 4.5 – 5 gigs. You can put it on a DVD twice before running out of space. The Xbox 360 is a system to be respected because of the developers and all the planning that has been laid out for it to succeed. If we do the same with the specs of Xbox 360 we will find that it does the following, all the numbers provided through the same calculation though with the Xeon the dot products are devided over it's 3 cores. 48 ALU ops (less than PS3) * 5 floats (vector5s better than PS3) * 500 (less than PS3) * 2(MADD) = 240 Gflops for Xenon, and Xeon as a team This is one example of how this Xenon GPU together with the Xeon does more with less, and in this case it will give slightly better graphics. So in theory we have a more powerful RSX with more Mhz's at it's disposal which due to some limitations within the architecture can not be used to it's full potential. overall the RSX basically is a current gen processor which is overclocked, since it's architecture is not that different from it's predecessors. I think in the end it will most definately come to the creative sollutions of the game programmers.. Which is when the xbox 360 wins overall as What many people are missing is that the new architecture of ATI opens new ways in terms of graphical development, and the 3 core CPU helps greatly too,as the PS3 has 1 ppe compared to the 360's 3 cotes it will give the game designers way more playground for gme deigning ' the Cell has only one PPE to the IBM's Xenon's three, which means that developers will have to cram all their game control, AI, and physics code into at most two threads that are sharing a very narrow execution core with no instruction window.' -No need for me to explain anymore. which is why developers can now ponder new ways of programming, while for PS3 Developers will be bound to the more conventional ways of programming, and the power will be harder to effectively program. So in terms of hardware the Xbox 360 definately will be able to deliver more performance. Not to forget the price too. the ps3 will be $499 for the low grade and $599 for the premium grade,and the games cost $60 each.But the thing that bothers me is that with the xbox 360 all you have to do with the core console is buy a hard drive and it wouild be a premium console,but for a low grade ps3($499) it has alot of features missing that you cant just buy that sony said the console will have,such as the low grade will not have HDMI for HDTVs the would pay that much for a console? im guessing, no.Also the xbox 360 will be lowerd in price when the ps3 comes out. Being that I am a 24-year-old black male that makes about $25,000.00 – $30,000.00 a year I have to be wise about spending. I also am married with one kid. My wife and I work at the same job so our income is equal. I have been gameing since I was 4 and have had almost all the mainstream consoles since 1985. Gameing is exactly what I want it to be right now except for all the bias arguing and bickering. When we were young we would just pass the joystick argouing with out any disputes about which system was better because we agreed on one thing having fun. We knew the Nintendo had better graphics than Atari but we still pulled her out and played the hell out of pong all day. The super Nintendo was also better to look at graphically than the Sega Genesis but we just shrugged that off, as one was not the other one. When the play station and Nintendo 64 was out we had to look at it one way, what is better to play which games on. It was obvious that Playstion had a better joystick for sports games so played sports and fighting games on the PS but when it came to adventure games and shooters Nintendo had PS beat for a little while. Nintendo started to cater to kids more even on adult games I was a late teen so I was like screw that I want a Playstion it had awesome games like Resident Evil and Time Crisis 1 Knock out Kings Soul Caliber and so on and so on. 119 -

So PS2 launches and the K.B. store across from the Footlocker I worked at was just over run by crazy moms and dads buying up all the PS2’s. They ran out the first hour they were open. The guys that worked there told us that they only had 15 or 20. By then I only had like $180.00 saved to get my own. People were coming across the hallway begging us for the ones we bought but only on guy at our store managed to get one but he got it from some Target out in the boonies. Those people were looking like monsters “I’ll buy it for $400.00, no sell it to me for $450.00.” and so on and so on. A few months later I was in the K.B. playing the game day demo and I saw an Xbox flyer with a Microsoft stamp on the bottom of it. I asked the dude that words there what it was he was like “That’s just the game system from Microsoft.” I was like damn the biggest computer soft ware company in the world is making a game console what it was going to be sick. We liked it I had all s the same games for PS2 and one of my buddies had Halo 1 but we were still playing 007 on 64 at that time too. So we never even opened Halo for like 2 months I just did not seem like it was sweet. One night a about 2:30 a.m. I decided to peel off the plastic and crack out halo and I was blown away because it was some thing I had never seen and it looked awesome and played really smooth compared to a lot of other games the environments were wide open and every think like Mario 64 but with shooter action of 007. I woke up all by homeboys and after convincing them not to kick my @ss I showed them the game we had been ignoring for 2 months. We played until like 8:00 in the morning. A little while later we would have arguments about which system (xbox or PS2) to play with because of the joystick. One side was like we never had a problem switching back and fourth before and the graphics were a little smother too the other side said they could only play games with the PS2 joystick no mater what. Most of thought that was utter bull crap. This is how the war first started they were all convinced the xbox joy stick was too big. We tried to convince them that it was just the joystick you will get used to it like the old Sega 3 button. But there was no convincing them. Then Microsoft heard their calls about the big joy and answered with the small stick. I was also relived with Microsoft choice. The small joy was perfect. But fight continued on. 121 -

The PS3 will be sweet as far as being a game system but there is a fatal flaw here Sony has not done what game consoles have done for years and even them selves and that is innovate bring change or some thing that makes there console stand apart from the crowed. And on top of that they are in desperation mode right now and are hoping to us the gamers to save their company, which is what I would expect them to do, it is only business nature. Out side of being a game giant they would like to concur a media format and they are attempting to do that with blue ray tech., which is sweet, but if they did not go this rowt they would still be O.K. with putting games on DVD’s. But the point behind not doing so is so that they can have full market share for the new HD era not to supply you with the best game experience in any way. It is not 100% necessary but it is still cool. The next thing is the cell processor it is a great innovation but you can get the same performance out of AMD or dual core processors which in real life real time can out perform cell processing on a consistent level the sell can peak on a higher level but it can not sustain that peak. And even then you will never push the system to that point for gamming. I am not an Xbox sales person at all but every thing I am saying is true I will give you my sources at the end. The console itself is $600.00 games $60.00 each joy sticks $50.00 each. I feel if you are #1 you should charge less than #2 & #3. Then to offer a $500.00version that dose not even upgrade to the Premium is simply an insult but its good marketing. You can get a premium Xbox 360 $400.00, 2 wire less joys $50.00 each=$100.00 and 2 games for $120.00 and still just be paying $620.00. That is strange how that cost the same as a PS3 premium package with out any games or extra joys or games. And they 360 is better hard ware all together and a better joystick and 1st party exclusives too. They do not even seem to be thinking of the current global economy at all. Most people make what I make and under. If you still want a PS3 get one but this deep in the new generation with all the switching of options and hype that turns out to be fake I say get one but at the same time the alterative are a better choice. I think in about 1 or 2 months most people will fold and get an Xbox 360 anyway because of true new 1st party games and no more reruns of sequels. And most games will be on both systems but you starting point is better with the Xbox because of cost. Do not let people fool you into thinking the PS3 will be better because of the Sony brand name or Blue Ray. Disc comacity is a non-issue DVD has 9-gig standard and the biggest game on 360 is Oblivion and is only 4.5 – 5 gigs. You can put it on a DVD twice before running out of space. The Xbox 360 is a system to be respected because of the developers and all the planning that has been laid out for it to succeed. So in closing get a PS3 if you are really interested but is you want to still enjoy yourself playing games and not splurging on hype get a 360 I think most of you would believe it is a very healthy decision. 124 -

For those that would like to save some money, the 360 and Wii are obvious choices. For those that know they must have the latest technology, the PS3 is a good option - chances are, those type of people (like me) is going to buy a blu-ray player anyway making the PS3 a bargain. Also, for those that have a 1080p TV or are looking to get one, the PS3 looks even more appealing. But for those that do not have such a TV, I can see why they would not want to pay the cost. In case you don't know it, the 360 also doesn't have HDMI and you can't watch movies in 720p if the movie studios decide to use ICT ;-) So with the PS3 we have a choice, we can get a blu-ray player bundled a great console for just 600, or we just buy the great console for 500. On the other side you xbugs have to spend 400 for xflop and 500-1000 for hd-dvd player if you want to watch movies in hd ;-) Next one is about some dirty MS lies. I know you cry about that Sony didn't respond to it, but I got to tell you that Sony already said their standpoint and they don't need to give an answer. So what if they sell more PSP's, its the only good hting Sony have released, im not going to deny that they are good.
