Quantic Dream recently released some screenshots of their PS3 game Heavy Rain. The screenshots looks very impressive and demonstrates the power of their new game engine, so if you haven’t seen these yet you can check them out here.

good job sonyUnregistered - ss 05.22.2006 09:08 i will never accuse ign of being pro sony again after reading their best of e3 awards. sony had almost non, while the 360 raked them in. and before you say, "but we won best hardware". the 360 was show cased last year...it is all games now. but ign did give sony this award: Biggest Surprise: Sony's Underwhelming Press Conference Sony, you broke our hearts. Before the press conference, a lot of people thought that this could be the year that Sony placed so much distance between itself and its competitors that they'd automatically be declared the next-gen winner. Instead, the conference cast a ton of doubt on just about everything. From the extreme boredom that set in when the Gran Turismo HD demo ran too long to showing lackluster titles at their press conference, Sony let the momentum they built up from last year literally fade away. No Killzone or Devil May Cry (and no apology to their absence) had people scratching their heads, while other viewers couldn't get over the wii-tarded demonstration of the "additional" motion sensing controller, which seemed to borrow just about everything from Sony's competition (while killing vibration at the same time). The price of the console gave lots of players around the world a heart attack as they tried to figure out how they could pay down for it come this November. Plus, the discovery of the 20 gig system missing key hardware features turned the dual price point argument into a point of ridicule for many supporters of the platform. Not the best start to the 2006 show by any means. 12 -

I'll keep this to the topic, unlike MOST of youverdimus 05.22.2006 11:57 Heavy Rain represents perhaps the best graphics on a home console to date. definately better than anything seen on the 360, and possibly better than PS3's current raining champion, MGS4. after viewing the trailer on ign, i can certainly say that its equal to Crysis for the PC as well. now, whether that translates into an actual good game (as in gameplay) is anyone's guess. but if anything, Heavy Rain stands as a testament to PS3's superior graphical capabilities. 16 -

It was running on a PC NOT a PS3 or XB360... Eventually, the slickest, hottest graphics will be on PCs and the graphics on the consoles will be so close to each other that you will be hard pressed to tell a huge difference between them... Buy whatever you want, but for the love of Christ/Buddha/Mohammed or whatever else you may have, STOP WITH ALL THE BULLSHIT!!!!! Both sides - it is goddamn annoying to come here looking for information and go to the XB360 site also looking for gaming information and have to scroll through 100's of nonsensical crap to find one or two on-topic replies and discussions. For the record: 1) PS3 doesn't offically exist yet. the specs are out, the dev-kits are supposedly out and running, but the actual, in-box runnign games are not in anyone's home at this point, so any comments about it are purely opinion and not facts. Stop acting like the "facts" support anything, if there are no "factys" then they cannot "prove" anything yet. Just stop it. 2) XB360 DOES NOT have rampant heat problems any more. It certainly had issues with the first batches made. The problem was addressed adn the later production models have not had the same problems. Constantly seeing some jag-off in-bred hick harping in every thread about heat problems is tiresome and a waste of bandwidth. Just stop it. 3) Neither system is going to have anything close to the level of "3rd party exclusives" that we saw last generation due to the price of developing games (rapidly heading into the stratosphere and rivallign low-budget films already). Unless Sony or Microsoft are handling the development in-house or paying HUGE amounts of money to the 3rd party, you will see about 50% or less the # of single system exclusives this time around. That is a good thing if it eventually pushes the hardware manufacturers towards cross-console play between all-systems. As a gamer, you should welcome any expanding of the gaming pool and not be constantly engaging in fanboyisms and retarded reiterations of the same goddamn argument!! Just stop it. 4) Pointless "comparisons" of graphics is the most juvenile thing to engage in. Mainly because of point #1, but in reality because until similar games (or actual multi-console versions are in the hands of the consumers and have been play-tested for several hours, all such comparisons are simply regurgitating the same tripe that has been going on for the last 18 months. Just stop it. %) Idiotic ranmblings about price comparisons. Believe me, no one here or anywhere else gives a sh!t about YOUR OPINION of which system is "cheaper", "better", "More value" or anythign else. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter was OK, but to call this next-gen is just not knowing games at all. I mean common, they had nice effect when you shoot the ground or a wall but a few minutes later the bullet holes disappeared. Top Spin 2 was just another game of tennis with the character model way off from looking like the real life person. I mean when you're here and you see Xbugs writing sh*t like oh yeah GRAW kick ass, what because of the battle? because the physics could have been done on PS2 and xbox and Gamecube. Period, the only next gen title the 360 has is Gears of War and maybe Halo3. Don't be fooled by the 360Fans, the 360 isn't worth my money so far, and i have played it since last year, but today GRAW didn't move me a notch, i still prefer games on my PS2 and soon to come PS3. 44 -

If you don't believe that Sony is subsidizing Konami to keep games such as MGS4 "exclusive" and think Konami is loyal to Sony because thier BF4E you are whacked. Also remember the delayed "exclusives" Like GTA San Andreas and the others. Multiple if not DOZENS! of developers have stated that at best the PS3 is nominally more powerful than the 360 and you will be hard pressed to tell the difference in the games they are developing. You can't argue with these are the people producing these games. They only have a loyalty to cold hard cash. The reason I'm venting is it's madness on this board and the 360 board. The games at launch were more impressive then alot of systems at launch. You like PS don't you remember playing Kessen and thos lame RPG'S that were horrible when the PS2 first launched, I do , I remeber the pop up fest that was Summoner. The PS2 did not start to impress me until 6 months after launch. People do not give 360 enough credit it has ALOT of fun and innovative looking games. I am getting a PS3 but I must tell you I see alot of 4's and 6's and 7's and 13's after the titles and as a gamer that doesn't impress me. Splinter Cell is better than MG in my opinion , The open experience of Oblivion is better than FF's linear play any day in my eyes. Gran Turismo is a better racing experince than Forza in my opinion. No X-box game has been like Shadow of the Colossus or ICO either. I am just a gamer and I HAVE to admit that I love my 360 and haven't really met the PS3 yet. Deep down I hope the 360 comes out on top because I can see the potential. 77 -

Also, if you program it in the winter, the PS3 will start your car for you so it's warm when you go to work. The only good game coming out for the 360 is Viva Pinata. That game looks awesome. Being that I am a 24-year-old black male that makes about $25,000.00 – $30,000.00 a year I have to be wise about spending. I also am married with one kid. My wife and I work at the same job so our income is equal. I have been gameing since I was 4 and have had almost all the mainstream consoles since 1985. Gameing is exactly what I want it to be right now except for all the bias arguing and bickering. When we were young we would just pass the joystick argouing with out any disputes about which system was better because we agreed on one thing having fun. We knew the Nintendo had better graphics than Atari but we still pulled her out and played the hell out of pong all day. The super Nintendo was also better to look at graphically than the Sega Genesis but we just shrugged that off, as one was not the other one. When the play station and Nintendo 64 was out we had to look at it one way, what is better to play which games on. It was obvious that Playstion had a better joystick for sports games so played sports and fighting games on the PS but when it came to adventure games and shooters Nintendo had PS beat for a little while. People were coming across the hallway begging us for the ones we bought but only on guy at our store managed to get one but he got it from some Target out in the boonies. Those people were looking like monsters “I’ll buy it for $400.00, no sell it to me for $450.00.” and so on and so on. A few months later I was in the K.B. playing the game day demo and I saw an Xbox flyer with a Microsoft stamp on the bottom of it. I asked the dude that words there what it was he was like “That’s just the game system from Microsoft.” I was like damn the biggest computer soft ware company in the world is making a game console what it was going to be sick. But all my friends ended up having PS2 because their parents helped them get one. We liked it I had all s the same games for PS2 and one of my buddies had Halo 1 but we were still playing 007 on 64 at that time too. So we never even opened Halo for like 2 months I just did not seem like it was sweet. One night a about 2:30 a.m. I decided to peel off the plastic and crack out halo and I was blown away because it was some thing I had never seen and it looked awesome and played really smooth compared to a lot of other games the environments were wide open and every think like Mario 64 but with shooter action of 007. I woke up all by homeboys and after convincing them not to kick my @ss I showed them the game we had been ignoring for 2 months. We played until like 8:00 in the morning. A little while later we would have arguments about which system (xbox or PS2) to play with because of the joystick. One side was like we never had a problem switching back and fourth before and the graphics were a little smother too the other side said they could only play games with the PS2 joystick no mater what. Most of thought that was utter bull crap. This is how the war first started they were all convinced the xbox joy stick was too big. We tried to convince them that it was just the joystick you will get used to it like the old Sega 3 button. But there was no convincing them. Then Microsoft heard their calls about the big joy and answered with the small stick. I was also relived with Microsoft choice. The small joy was perfect. It had new stick side-by-side comparisons of games always looked better on the xbox most notably in sports games and shooters. Ant the built in hard drive and the biggest monster Xbox live. But they still did not listen. So we chalked it up and began to have fun again no matter what system we played on even the game cube which put some dust on the PS2 too. Now I still don’t have one of my own until my mom surprises me with a make up for the past gift. I was so happy to have my own system it was not a bias thing it was then I want the best for my small buck. By this time we all only played on xbox because the system was better for our more adult minds. We could easily see that all of the games that were on both systems were better on xbox but we still played PS2 exclusives like Tekken, which has now gotten old like Street Fighter. So I don’t want you to get mad at any one who has a preference because it is really dumb and ignorant. We all have preferences and needs to be met. I am grown with kids and a professional job “My money matters to me.” If you are a parent you know what I mean and a few of you are the same kid I was back in chapter 1 then and some of you still live in your parents home hoping, wishing, begging, and convincing them to the buy you another game system and most of your parents will. This generation of gaming is every thing I could have hoped for in the past and now today. If there is any one who is being disrespected by this console war its us the gamers. I am going to lay it down simple for you. And this is my opinion about what I see in the game world today. The PS3 will be sweet as far as being a game system but there is a fatal flaw here Sony has not done what game consoles have done for years and even them selves and that is innovate bring change or some thing that makes there console stand apart from the crowed. And on top of that they are in desperation mode right now and are hoping to us the gamers to save their company, which is what I would expect them to do, it is only business nature. Out side of being a game giant they would like to concur a media format and they are attempting to do that with blue ray tech., which is sweet, but if they did not go this rowt they would still be O.K. with putting games on DVD’s. But the point behind not doing so is so that they can have full market share for the new HD era not to supply you with the best game experience in any way. It is not 100% necessary but it is still cool. The next thing is the cell processor it is a great innovation but you can get the same performance out of AMD or dual core processors which in real life real time can out perform cell processing on a consistent level the sell can peak on a higher level but it can not sustain that peak. The joystick with out force-feed back Plain old sucks and you know that for real any one who denies it shows you brain washed like a man who claims he isn’t a homosexual but hangs out in homosexual bars. The price is outrageous $600.00. If you add another $25.00 you can pay my mortgage for one month. The console itself is $600.00 games $60.00 each joy sticks $50.00 each. I feel if you are #1 you should charge less than #2 & #3. Then to offer a $500.00version that dose not even upgrade to the Premium is simply an insult but its good marketing. You can get a premium Xbox 360 $400.00, 2 wire less joys $50.00 each=$100.00 and 2 games for $120.00 and still just be paying $620.00. That is strange how that cost the same as a PS3 premium package with out any games or extra joys or games. And they 360 is better hard ware all together and a better joystick and 1st party exclusives too. They do not even seem to be thinking of the current global economy at all. Most people make what I make and under. If you still want a PS3 get one but this deep in the new generation with all the switching of options and hype that turns out to be fake I say get one but at the same time the alterative are a better choice. I think in about 1 or 2 months most people will fold and get an Xbox 360 anyway because of true new 1st party games and no more reruns of sequels. And most games will be on both systems but you starting point is better with the Xbox because of cost. Do not let people fool you into thinking the PS3 will be better because of the Sony brand name or Blue Ray. Disc comacity is a non-issue DVD has 9-gig standard and the biggest game on 360 is Oblivion and is only 4.5 – 5 gigs. You can put it on a DVD twice before running out of space. The Xbox 360 is a system to be respected because of the developers and all the planning that has been laid out for it to succeed.
