I have absolutely no interest in Revolution, because it isn't high def, so it's really not next gen gaming. So if we grant that this article is true and PS3 does have better physics than the 360 can we conclude that they have the better system. Of course not. Especially if we take into consideration that the 360 is supposed to beat the PS3 in graphics and AI according to various programers who have posted on the web. (don't feel like looking for the link at the moment but will supply if needed) The bottom line is two fold; (1) we won't know which system is "better" until they are both released, (2) the almost universal consensus (from what we can tell at the moment not having the completed product to compare) is that the difference between the systems is so minimal that it is practically irrelavant. The great determiner is the games and services period. So do us all a favor and stop the fan boyish comments. So now I am a huge fan of all the systems. Microsoft is just plain amazing and they are almost always on top. Sony makes great electronics in general and are always really reliable and nintendo is nintendo, they started almost everything, you just dont get any more old school than that. In truth online can only add depth to the games we play as it gives consumers more options. Pro-PS3Unregistered - Leathel 09.08.2005 10:06 I hate to add to the flame but, I must.. lol, Why deny the facts here, every single real time demo for PS3 looks years beyond XBOX 360, while 360 looks more like modern PC games, the only game that is between the gap here is those Based on the Unreal 3 Engine, even and this is based on an alpha Devkit that is still running on a slow Cell CPU with maybe a pair of GeForce 6800, I'm pretty sure that you've all seen it, and still denied this, Sure CPU clocks are more or less the same, but hasn't anyone figured out that they are internally different? and that maybe they will display things allot different with their own API. now If i were a developer, I would rather work with OpenGL (PS3) than with DirectX (XBOX360) everyone talks about how hard it is to develope for PS2 but I think that Sony's move to Use OpenGL is a really good one, to my experience OpenGL runs graphics allot smoother with all FX turned on, it's better/easier to program for, and quite honestly - has a better potential of looking better on screen. although I'm not sure that DX9.0b+ brings to the table, but all the same, this may be one of the reasons why PS3 screens look allot better almost or CG quality games - yeah it's very possible. E3- If you thought KillZone 2 looked too good to be true, you obviously didn't play Killzone for Ps2. frankly I'm not impressed with the Xbox360 tittles this far. but then Again - if Resident's Evil 5 images are the same for both PS3 and XboX360 then you'll be the judge and flame on each other as long as you want :) lol, I'm buying a PS3 for one reason only, RPGs baby!, If Nintendo had'em I would go Revolution, see what I mean here? ;) I like Playing old games on new consoles too, like Gameboy and the DS or PS1 :D it never get's old when you're playign games like Castlevania SotN 55 -

In fact all the games that I have seen coming out on both consoles look practically identical. Additionally, if you refer to Anandtech's article from a few months back as well as a number of other's which are readily available you will see that many experts agree that the two consoles are more similar than different. I still think the PS2 gfx have not approached what the emotion engine can do, but that is more because of the crippled programming it takes to get it to do things. The Xbox included a few shaders in its Graphics core and that is why things look nicer in it. Also, the Xbox is developed around technology that every company that developes PC games uses... DirectX and a portion of the WIndows Kernal. That makes it easier to port and develop games because essentually the Xbox is a stripped down PC made for gaming as a primary purpose. the PS is running its own routines and does its own things. So it take developers longer to get the hang of coding and optumizing for the systems. I believe that the XB360 and PS3 are going to be closer in performance than many people believe at the end of their lifecycles you will see that they are indeed pretty even... you give a physics engine here to get more shaders there... you take this to get that. Usually companies will use roughly the same stuff for both consoles anyway. a few smoke and flame effects here and there will be different... anbd a few exclusive levels here and there will be about all the REAL difference you notic betweehn games side by side on both consoles. 63 -
