At the game developers conference, held at the Cafe Royal, Sony officially revealed many details about upcoming Playstation 3 hardware. Sony have stated earlier that the PlayStation 3 will support up to seven Bluetooth 2.0 compliant controllers and feature six USB slots, but today they told the developers at the conference that it will also support a keyboard and mouse. We can’t say we are shocked by this announcement as we pretty much expected the PS3 to support that. The company representative added that you will be able to play games such as Unreal Tournament 2007 with the keyboard and the mouse. The extra accuracy provided by a mouse will drastically improve gameplay for FPS games on the PS3 an possibly attract some die hard PC fans.

Next, PS3 is more powerful and can handle better graphics but the third party game makers dont know how to take advantage of all that power and exactly what it can do, yet. But they will. Dont you worry macdaddy, cause Sony is the MACDADDY of Consoles. Xbox will rule, but only under PLAYSTATION. I am sure 360 is more user friendly, But most things that are less technically powerful usually are more simple to understand. The more you pour into them, the more difficult they become to work on, but once you learn the ins and outs, the outcome is far more fulfilling. The said ps2 was hard to make games for too, but we all know how that turned out. PS2 ruled xbox and sold 4 times, THATS RIGHT, FOUR TIMES AS MANY systems as xbox sold. Until they are both out. The future: Sony PC?Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.06.2005 06:09 For those who can get beyond the ridiculous "XBoy/Halo" 13-year old arguments, picture this: a media player (PS3), game machine, built-in browser (I predict)-- add in a bootable copy of Linux w/ OpenOffice, for a total price of $399 w/ hard drive (I predict), and you've got a great non-Windows machine that does what 99% (my estimate) of the world needs, in their living room, without endless patches and NO $100 upgrade to Longhorn (my estimate on the UPGRADE price). Your average household is tired of the constant vulnerabilities that are Windows-specific. They want something simple, that functions out of the box. MS will NEVER market this way as it cuts into their Windows goldmine, but Sony has a true opportunity. The only downside, is if they market it that way, with an included copy of Linux, then they'd have to support that as well-- consumers won't go for a "we just provide Linux, not support it". But someone will do it, soon after launch (Knoppix?), but Sony will have to support it for the average household to run with it. The only other app I can see that must be supported is a Quicken-type package. 26 -

whateverUnregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.17.2005 18:52 if a ps3 has a keyboard and mouse, and as sony says it will be much more than just gaming(as all consoles except gamecube) are that it would be just as good as a freakin pc if it has a browser and a bunch of computer features ( it has all the ports it needs, usb or ethernet for a printer, tons of memory card slots for any stuff saved to them, and wireless blutooth for a ton of hardware you can sync to it) and it has a hard drive port so if it has a typing program it will be easily an alternative to having a console and tv and a computer and monitor into a high end gaming computer that is functional that is workable of an hdtv instead of all that stuff you have to buy if you buy both a pc and ps3 which xbox would not be able to make as it only has two usb ports and has no real browser for anything other than xbox live or marketplace which you can just as easily do with amazon or ebay. 47 -
stop fighting and buy bothUnregistered - mike 10.29.2005 11:15 hi all, for a long time now, i've been spending at least 2 hours a day reading forums, watching trailers, pics, etc about xbox 360 and ps3. i have a cool homecinema setup with a 110" screen and a sanyo z3 projector, with a hdmi waiting for the xbox 360. can't wait to play a gotham 3 on it ! and later on, i will buy the ps3, i'm already saving money for it. so here is my opinion about these 2 consoles : both will give us hours and hours of happyness. graphics on xbox 360 are REAL cool and IMPRESSIVE, but when i look at all the available trailers and pics, EVERYTHING look great, but i feel like the games are running on an optimized xbox. i mean, its fast, pretty, wonderful colors, smooth animations,better effects, but if you put, for exemple, the xbox and xbox 360 side by side, the first one running gotham racing 2 and 3 (on 360), is there an INCREDIBLE, GIANT difference ? not really. When i watch trailers of ps3 like killzone or MGS or gran turismo, if i can have games only "approaching" that quality, i will feel i'm living in year 2020. Those graphics, animations, doesn't remind ANYTHING that has already be done in the past. It is absolutly incredible, and even xbox fans will have to admit that. that said, we haven't seen any ps3 game yet, but i believe we can all trust sony, which is going to surprise us (and event microsoft), for sure. and let's not forget cell's architecture...sony may put several cells on the box, whenever it will be necessary,let's say, in 2 or 3 years, without spending billions on R&D. so stop fighting and let's wait.
