Speaking to EGM Square-Enix has now stated that the company is not working on a remake of the popular Playstation RPG, Final Fantasy VII. The reason being that with all their current projects they simply lack the resources for such a huge project, suggesting that to match the quality of the E3 tech-demo would require a team of at least 300 members and likely take in excess of five years to create! However Nomura Director Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children said that it could be an interesting project if they had the resources available. So there might still be a tiny bit of hope, just don’t hold your breath…

Because they know it is so popular that's why. SThey know how a re-make would bewilder all ff fans alike, and yet they decide to not re-make the game. Unregistered - Vivicious 09.11.2005 18:17 I absolutely worship the entire storyline and everything about FF VII, one of the few games where you could speculate about theories forever. But the best RPG of all time, I think if everything were to be honest and had played both, should always be CHRONO TRIGGER. It's just an amazing game, especially for it's time. If you haven't played it, get an emulator (ZSNES) and get to it, because there isn't a single RPG out there that deserves it more, with FF VII a close second. 17 -

They could distort the story line with added elements and themes, extra characters. Plus the final fantasy 7 everybody loves already is, so, with that being said, would be physically impossible to please all of the final fantasy 7 fans. It would either be a huge hit or a major flop. If square enix invested all that money and time into a video game that would flop, it wouldn't be worth it. Remember spirits within? Good movie, not final fantasy, major flop. One of the main reasons Square merged with Enix. But yes, Final Fantasy 7 on the ps3 would be ultimately cool and worth it to me. But I follow 100 percent on whatever Square Enix decides to do. This game will decide whether I buy a 360 or a PS3Unregistered - Claudio 04.06.2006 21:31 I think it would be completeley stupid for Sony not to apply pressure on square enix not to make this game, the reason why Square enix are being so vague about a remake of Final fantasy VII is because if they flat out say there not going to make it, a lot of people will buy an Xbox instead, and this will piss of Sony, If Sony dont want the game than why dont Microsoft get instead they have a lot of money, and if you need 300 people to do it, why not go to other software developers like Sega, Konami and Capcom, and have them do all the programming for you, if they did thsi it would only take a year, year and a half to make, And about ruining the storyline I dont buy that, you dont have to change the story, only the dungeons, make them bigger and cooler, add a few extra things in like the mythical white and purple Chocobo's, add a few more viechles in, and enable costume changes like in Kotor, Eldar Scrolls, or fable, where you can change the charecters apperence depending on what they wear. 26 -
