Sony announced today that it would launch the PS3 in “Clear Black” in mainland Europe, US and Australasia on November 17, 2006, as part of a worldwide simultaneous launch. The PS3 will be equipped with Blu-ray and Pre-Installed HDD and be available at €499 (20GB HDD) and €599 (60GB HDD) in Europe, and $499 and $599 in the US. PS3 is the most advanced computer system that serves as a platform to enjoy next generation computer entertainment contents in the home, realized through the combination of Cell and RSX processors, in addition to the playability of a vast catalog of PlayStation and PlayStation 2 software titles. Having Giga-bit Ethernet and a pre-installed hard disk drive (HDD) as standard in PS3, users will be able to download a variety of contents as well as access on-line games and services over the network. Equipped with basic input/output ports, PS3 supports a broad range of displays from conventional NTSC/PAL standard TVs to the latest full HD (1080i/1080p) flat panel displays, offering the joy of the most advanced computer entertainment contents to homes around the world. For use in living rooms, maximum heat and noise reduction has been achieved with a noise level equivalent to that of the current slim-line PlayStation 2. It better be damn well packaged for $599 or it will look like the Neo Geo. And looking at what games were showed, some that CLEARLY showed fram droppages & slowdown, Im was not very impressed at all. The best game they showed was FFXIII in my opinion. Some of it was in game footage & it looked pretty good. A Majority of the later games were all CGI. Only a handful were In Game. 3 -

This is an actual Next Gen. system that will without a doubt deliver in many ways than just visuals. I think the controller will definitely add to a better game play experience once developers begging to implement it. .....I only have one question....Gran Turismo HD; can someone please clarify this one for me? I know it takes a bit of effort but most people who can save 400 for a premium 360 can save a bit more and get a 20GB PS3 cuz 20 GB is more than enough. 360/ps3Unregistered - 360/ps3 05.09.2006 01:00 lol yeah 36 you keep thinkin that and all that money and hype and the ps3 wont even have rumble feature for the controller....see when you look at the two systems your tradin one thing for anotha it all come down to preference. ps3, blu tooth but no rumble for the controller. 360, no blue tooth but has great rumble feat. ps3, blu ray disk. 360, custom soundtrack in games. ps3, 60 gb hdd that developers can depend on. 360, 20 gb hdd for custom soundtracks and various feats. I mean you get the idea right.... Basically with the ps3 you payin for the blu ray disks. Personally i prefer the 360 see i could care less about hi def movies so that makes blu ray to none effect to me. Now seein as how im a music fan, the custom soundtrack for ingames is a great great thing for me. Now in terms of the controller, theres no question that the 360 controller is a great controller with the option of turnin the 360 on and off and open and close the tray. Blue tooth, means nonthin to me. Now thats just my preference, as i said before thats all it comes down to is preference. But sayin somethin is worth every penny is rarely the case. Just gotta choose whats best for you. I high lighted what was better for me. Blu ray movies i mean...whatever. Progressive scan dvd's on lcd tv i mean do you really need better..they played it safe with the 360..and i prefer it. interestin to see how the ps3 plays out but so far all their promises are fading. No rumble feat. for the controller is a step backwards, and its funny cause Ken kut whatever was talkin sooooo muc ishhh and look. Im not putting it down just makin a statement....nothins worth every penny. PAUL CERULA 05.09.2006 01:10 I'll admit I was quite surprised at the load of knowledge Sony gave us all. After seeing what the PS3 dev. case can do I'm even more excited to see the 360 stuff. Let's break this down. 1. Gameplay / Videos / demos....They looked great, exactly what the PS3 should be at in development. But a lot of major forerunner games weren't even scheduled close to launch but they showed them anyways to display whats to come. This misleads a lot of people. There was a lot of CGI and pre-rendered segments, there even were bits of video mixed in with the gameplay. And there was definately a lot of framerate issues in half the games there. It'd lag or jump every other time that one guy swung his sword in the first gameplay. A lot of multiplatform character demos were incredible like the tiger woods and NBA. Wait that was EA, how are they gonna cut the edges off on those games? 2. Controller....this was one of my thoughts they would just go back to the dual shock and drop the banana. But they added a simple gyroscope in it and tossed the vibration. Honestly think about how you'll use the gyroscope. It's gonna be flight sims, boat races, and car racing, that's pretty limited considering those aren't the most popular game types. And no vibration is horrible to loose just for this function. Considering the Vibration mode was used in every game and everywhere it's devastating to loose it. You'll use this gyroscope to do short bits of vehicle use scattered through campaigns. No...not for me 3. PRICE....of course, 500 for 20gb, 600 for 60gb. The problem here is that the 40gb difference is a sign that you'll need your hard drive more than ever if your an average gamer. No way would Sony just toss away 100 bucks revenue for a smaller hard drive. They're in the hole big time. Also in the GT4 HD part the dev. said that the hard drive would download campaign maps, races, etc to shorten load times. Hello...isn't this what the Blu-ray was meant to do. And considering their confidence in people buying a 60gb pack it's clear your hard drive will be used a lot. And that some people won't be able to do with just a 20gb. 4. PS HUB....Perhaps I missed it but I didn't see an interface for anything other than the online music shop. Anyways you think that online is free, your dreaming. Who upkeeps and pays hundreds to build and preserve online with Sony. The developers, and who did Sony say would charge you for fees if they wanted to, the developers. Also online isn't mandatory so you'll only get the most popular games online and they will have good online which will cost a fortune to run and build. WORD TO THE WISE == NOTHING IS FREE Overall the games I was impressed with weren't scheduled for launch. And Tuesday it's 360's time to rebuttle this strong statement by Sony. There's lots of mixed feelings about this conference. Everyone who would visit a PS3 forum already believes that 5-600 bucks is no problem. Well how about the more than 90% people without HDTV's. Blu-ray may be worth it to you unquestionably but it doesn't appeal to the bulk market. You need to think outside of your lust to get the real picture of how this will play out. how much truth can you handle.... 49 -

The end of SonyUnregistered - The M.A.R.T. 05.09.2006 05:59 So this is the end of Sony 499 Euro's for a machine without a HDMI port, Blue Ray is useless then 599 Euro's, buy an extra controller and a game with it and you'll be back on your account for around 750 Euro's. The games? Not seen much yet. The motorthing is allright but not great. It'll do the same about as the 360 with graphics in the end, but the 360 GPU is slightly better then the one of the PS3 which is a Nvidia 7900 while the 360 GPU is a special designed one for the console. So about the same technology for at the time of the launch half the price of the PS3 you'll get the 360 Premium for 300 or 350 Euro's/Dollars around Christmas and the PS3 with HDMI port for 600 Euro's/Dollars with a BR player that isn't even the definitive standard yet. That's not very wise to do, while it is sure the games will be around the same quality of graphics. Go buy the 360, eventually get a seperate HD-DVD or BR add-on player if the standard is set. The add-on player of the 360 will have a HDMI port in the end also, just wait and see. So at the moment you'll be missing out nothing, heck even have the next gen console now in stead of waiting endlessly on Sony, not having to hear their lies again (TWO HDMI ports? come on. They won't even get games in 1080p because the GPU can't process anything else then Tetris in 1080p on one screen not to say two as Sony did, it will be 480p or 720p where the 360 has the standard 720p which is forced by MS, Sony has no rule so game developers can even choose 480p which is lame as hell). I was going to get the PS3 but now I'll sh*t on it and have bought the 360, hope everyone will do and Sony will go bankrupt those pantsh*tters. But I feel sorry for the Europeans, who always seem to get the pointy end of the value stick. Is it worth the price? In my opinion, probably not. I could get a 360 and a Wii for the price of the lower end Ps3 (allegedly, Wii has not shown pricing yet). I buy consoles to play games. So personally, I'd rather have two consoles than one console. The controller is another issue. No vibration anymore. They say it has to do with the motion sensing, I imagine it has a lot more to do with the patent infringement lawsuit. But we've had game vibration forever; believe me, you'll miss it. Think of driving games, it was a very effective way of alerting you to the fact you were taking turns too fast. But almost as importantly this affects the backwards compatibility of all ps/ps2 games. I say almost because, as a 360 owner, I don't go back to the older library all that much. Sony's online for free thing doesn't sound any different than Xbox Live, either. I did not hear them say you could play games for free online. I also did not hear that Sony required all games to be hi-def, or that they were required to be online enabled. The only requirement I've heard is that they be on Blu-Ray. Finally, the two hard drive system. The $499 PS3 told me something, it was that MS may very well drop the price of their premium system. Even if only by 50 dollars, it would certainly sting. But if Sony is willing to sell at $499, then the 20 gig hard drive isn't adding that much to the cost of the console. 76 -

This has come to no suprise to me as I expected a minimum of 499. So 499 or 599 and being im in the uk I think 599 euros converts to just over £ 400 which isnt bad considering the standalong blue-ray played will be alot more and with the PS3 you get allot more. The rumble feature isn't all that important to me anyways. I just pictured playing fight night with the new controler. Being able to dodge punches using its new feature. Now that the cat is out of the bag, expect to see a lot more games announced since companies had to remain quiet by Sony's request. Plus there is no way Sony could have done much more at the show than what they did. It was only 2 hours. All the bull ive been told to look out for, they have showed nothing new, revolutionary or exciting really. The game demos were dull. I cannot see why anyone would still want to buy one unless they love the few exclusives the PS3 has left. Unregistered - Twist96 05.09.2006 13:47 The Sony Conference was....underwhelming. However, I will congratualte Sony on not BS'ing anymore about the graphics. But... The games look the same as Xbox 360. There was even pop-up on that demo..can't remmeber the name, it was a first person game, and the guy was playing it...oh yea, Resistance of Man or something. Anyway, I saw POP-UP on the smoke efects in that. Second of all, the controller is a complete rip of Wii and 360. The middle button and the analoug triggers are straight from 360, and the motion sensitvity from Wii. And whats this? NO BLURAY PLAYBACK or DOUBLE HDMI FOR THE CHEAPER VERSION? LOL. You know they'll sell that seperatly to those people. Sony lies again! MGS4 trailer was cool, for people like me who know the story. I liked Raiden on MGS2, and now he looks great. Although the thing that annoyed me about that trailer was Snake's "suicide". I saw that coming a mile off, "There is one more thing I must do", with a small pistol in his hand. OH PLEASE. It wasn't a shock at all by the end. K, look, lets look past the hype. PS3 is no better than 360. Both are well built and well establised platform, and Wii is something else all together, for better or for worse. I'm not attacking the PS3 outright- I'm saying is UNDERWHELMING. 113 -

But dont you see your just as bad by replying like you do and calling them names? The 360 and the PS3 are great machines but none are or will be perfect. You are right though that 360 fans who have no intention of getting a PS3 should be on here and it is rather stupid that they come and post insults. I on the other hand will have all 3 systems but I realise some cant afford to do that. The PS3 plays Blue Ray, which is better then DVD, but equal to HD-DVD (because 1080p no one uses there is no one with such a TV even not in a few years that this next gen console lives through). The compressing data thing has nothing to do with high quality what a dumb ass remark 3. The eye toy thing is less innovative as the Wii controller, which Sony tries to copy but it won't work out. The 360 controller is perfect in weight and shape, the boomering stupid controller that is prototype of Sony that's a da bomb ain't it? whoaohahaha 5. My XBOX360 isn't noisy. THe first (Hitachi drives) had some noise problems the newer Toshiba/Samsung drives act normal. So you know how much noise the PS3 will make even you haven't ever seen or touched a working model untill yet? That's really funny. Oh wait, you believe the marketing sh*t from Sony? RIght? Like the 2 HDMI ports the PS3 would have??? Now it has one and the only game it can deliver in 30 fps with 4096 colours will be Tetris (yes, 1080p on the PS3 won't be able to deliver more then 30 fps and not 60, the hardware GPU Nvidia 7900 not special designed like the 360 GPU isn't capable of producing more then 4096 colours on screen when in 1080p... hahaha) 6.
