('Frontier'), the leading independent games developer, today released more screenshots from its major game for PS3 and Xbox 360 - "The Outsider". Frontier re-emphasises its position that cutting edge graphics are merely the starting point, they do not make a true 'next generation' game. Consequently Frontier has also been focussing on new game-play elements that are now possible on the new console platforms - Frontier's aim with "The Outsider" is to bring the sort of freedom of action first seen in "Elite" bang up to date. "The Outsider" is a gripping, high-tech thriller which radically enriches the player's experience by abandoning the traditional, prescriptive, mostly linear story of current generation games, and replaces it by simulating characters' motivations and aims. This gives the player genuine freedom to change the story outcomes in a way that has not been seen before - each player will get a truly unique, sophisticated, visceral experience rather than simply switching between 'good' or 'evil'. The techniques used are enabled by the greatly increased processing power available on new machines, including the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Frontier is based on the prestigious Cambridge Science Park and is continuing its sustained growth - it currently has a number of vacancies on several unannounced exciting projects as well as 'The Outsider' for 3D modellers, animators, concept artists, game designers, engine technology programmers and game programmers, and is keen to hear now from top quality applicants who can contribute to the future of games at both senior and less experienced levels who are either already experienced in or new to the games industry. According to PSM, Rockstar began working on the next GTA on a PS3 Dev kit last August. So, there could be a possibilty that we could see some pics at E3.Then again, Rockstar has been known to keep screens and info sealed tight until close to release date. Anyways, these screens are really good. Can't wait to see more! 8 -

It looks more like next-gen and even if its 360 screens we all know the PS3 will match or exceed it so it really shouldn't matter. Come on Sony let's get moving at least get games in the works while we wait for the PS3, i have fear for the pc and it was a pretty good game this sucks that it will have new content on the 360. According to IBM’s white paper: http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/power/library/pa-cellperf/?ca=drs-#table4 ...The Cell has a theoretical peak of 201 GFLOP’s (Figure 5) – running 8 SPE’s at 25.12 GFLOP’s apiece (Table 2). However when physically tested: only 155.5 GFLOP’s were actually achieved (Table 4) with a total efficiency rate of 75.9% (Table 4). Since the PS3 will only use 7 SPE’s due to manufacturing yield issues, the theoretical peak for the PS3’s processor will be 176 GFLOP’s, at 25.12 GFLOP’s apiece. Assuming the same 75.9% efficiency, we could easily interpolate the PS3’s Cell to be capable of 133.6 GFLOP’s. Given that the Xbox 360’s general-purpose triple core CPU generates a proven 115.2 GFLOP’s and is relatively easier to utilize – the PS3 is not nearly as far ahead as Sony wants you to believe. In fact, once you take into account the total amount of resources that will be used by their respective operating systems, the PS3 will actually have less available CPU power (for in game graphics, physics, etc) compared to the 360... According to this site: http://ps3.qj.net/Inside-the-PS3-s-Operating-System-/pg/49/aid/21047 ...The PS3 will constantly reserve 1 SPE for running its operating system. Removing this SPE from the equation, we could easily interpolate that the PS3’s Cell will only be capable of 114.4 GFLOP’s for in-game purposes! …And that number would still be inflated because removing the single SPE doesn’t account for all of the CPU related resources that would be used by the operating system. Meanwhile, given that the 360’s operating system only uses 3% CPU time on Core1 and Core2 (nothing is reserved on Core0) – it could be stated that the 360 will have superior CPU processing power for in game graphics, physics, and the like! Considering that the 360’s Xenos GPU is also slightly more powerful at running current graphic engines and is a full-generation ahead of the RSX (in terms of being Windows Graphic Foundation 2.0 compliant and therefore compatible with future versions of Direct X and shader models) – Sony is in big, big trouble because their delayed PS3 console is less powerful than the 360! Now I know that this may be a shock to most people on here but after hearing comments like "this game should naturally look better on the PS3", etc - I just thought that I should inform you that they will look EXACTLY THE SAME because both systems are relatively equal in terms of the power available to run this particular graphics engine! 12 -

Whenever a game involves the killing of governmental officials, such as the communists you seem so focused on, the characters are fake. There are no games that involve the killing of any real life governmental officials.
