According to Gamesindustry.biz, Sony has confirmed that PS3 hardware will go on show at this year's Game Developers Conference. In a statement, the company said that there will be "PlayStation 3 kiosks, showcasing the latest hardware and development tools for the next-generation console, including Unreal Engine, COLLADA, PlayStation Graphics Library (PSGL) and performance analysis tools." Sony also said that they would show "demonstrations of games that highlight the new and unique features of the PlayStation platform".The speech by Phil Harrison, Sony's head of Worldwide Studios is scheduled to take place at 10.30am (6.30pm GMT) today. DarkLegacy 03.22.2006 18:47 I will be purchasing the PS3 when it is launched so it'll be intresting to see what happens here. Although ya really need to stop hyping up the PS3. Some people are making it out to be way more than it will end up being. Those select ones that are will probally end up quite disappointed to see that it is indeed not as powerful as Sony makes it out to be on paper. 8 -
Unregistered - Neutral Gamer 03.22.2006 20:08 DL didn't MS hype the 360 launch titles, not trying to start a flame war but all and all GRAW was pretty good but I bought it for my PC so I don't really think MS is any better either. 9 -
DarkLegacy 03.22.2006 20:33 The Xbox 360 was defitnliy hyped up quite a bit. Im not going to say the system was a let down, but IMO, it's still not to that point to fully back up the hype it got. Games like GRAW & Oblivion is defitnly a great step i nthe right direction. The Xbox 360 was indeed very hyped up, but the PS3 is going well beyond that point. I think its cus the 360 is out now so the PS3 is in a position where it would HAVE to be better or people would see it as a failure. So in turn, it is getting much more hype than the 360 did. It's like watching an AMD vs Intel thread on one of the many Computer related forums im apart of. Im not bringing the PS3 down at all, but Im just letting people know to not be surprised if it doesn't live up to there expectations. All the PS3 is specs on paper for now. I've been a console gamer for a very long time but my pride, joy & career has always been computers & I've seen things like this on a month to month basis. Comparisions, charts, etc. Believe me when I say that specs don't mean much if the performance doesn't meet up to that. Like a PC Processer or a PC Video Card. Lets be dead honest however, even if anyone here is a huge Sony Fan, in your honest opinion, how much better was it than the Sega Dreamcast? The Specs were is the PS2's favor by a large margian but even if so, the games did not look that much better than what the Dreamcast system could do. Although I will admit it took more time for developers to really push what the PS2 was capable of. When I say something like that about the PS3, I immediatly get bashed with "xbug fanboy, Xbox nerd", whatever someone on here can come up with lol. I'll say though that I would like to see the Xbox 360 be the better system even though Im sure that is not going to happen. I like to support anything that is American since I am one =). Im sure the PS3 will be a great system regardless but I just think it will live up to my expectations. That will be different for everyone. 10 -

I don't think I will get a PS3Unregistered - DrPepper 03.29.2006 13:10 They will be too scarce come launch, like MS, there will be a handful for the few that get there a day early, then they will turn around and sell them on eBay, don't think I can go through all that, I'm getting a 360, its going to be atleast another year before anyone can actually get a PS3, unless you have plenty of $$$, 360's were going for over a grand. 12 -

As hard as it was to get a 360 on launch in the US by a US company, you think you will get one from another countries launch? Dont you remember the PS2 launch? If you want to wait another year to join the next-gen, go ahead. I will have a PS3 eventually, but I am gaming in the next-gen right now, wait another year, and my game library will be huge, while you are just getting a console. Just trying to help you guys out.
