There has been a lot of talks about the PS3 and its Cell processor. The miraculous CPU that has been jointly developed by IBM, Sony and Toshiba, and will be the very heart of the PS3 pumping the bits and bytes around at incredible speed. But what is it really? And what does it do? It think someone along the way has misplaced the reason why nintedo was so big in the eighties and early ninties. because they created never before seen games machines for the home. These machines were over simplified by design so even a child could, with little effort and time, PLAY A GAME. as an avid supporter of the game console format i hope the drive for superority doe not blur the line between PC and console to much. what will my poor 4 year old do. 4 -

Who needs a supercomputer at home? I do!!!Unregistered - Joe Back 09.08.2005 10:09 Running complex simulations of moving colliding particles on a PC (even 3.2 GHz with 2GB Ram!) takes weeks for just 3000 particles.
