Zipper Interactive, the development studio responsible for the highly successful SOCOM series has been acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment.
"We were first drawn to Sony Computer Entertainment by their vision for growing the videogame industry," said Zipper Interactive president and CEO Jim Bosler. "We've enjoyed an incredible relationship with SCE for more than six years...As a part of the Sony Computer Entertainment group we can look forward to introducing innovative titles that push online functionality and community experiences even further." This can only be good news for fans of the series as this means that Zipper Interactive will now have even more resources available for the development of their not yet confirmed (but very likely in development) PS3 SOCOM game. PS3 GamesUnregistered - Akakage 01.25.2006 15:22 So far of all the announced games for PS3 I'm very much looking forward to Devil May Cry 4 and Genji 2. I'm curious about Heavenly Sword if they gameplay could rival the teaser they have been showing..then it could be good. I'm also interested in the DC MMORPG..City of Heroes-style game but with console-centric gameplay sounds appealing..especially with characters that most peeps are familiar with. I'm also interested in what Level 5 may or may not be developing..I wasn't a big fan of dark cloud but that rouge galaxy looks amazing. I'm not a Gran Turismo fan so can't say that I'm looking forward to that, neither have I been a Final Fantasy fan..(although Advent Children is a DARN GOOD MOVIE) so I'm not really interested in that either but perhaps the New Xenosaga games, any new grandia games and maybe Kingdom Hearts 3 if the make it. I never liked Socom or Killzone. Something was missing in the gameplay to me on Killzone. It had potential..but it just wasn't fun...borderline boring. I'm more excited about certain developers...than I am specific titles (mostly because there are only a handful of announced PS3 titles). I hope this answers your question. Top of my PS3 list DMC4 5 -

socomUnregistered - don green 01.25.2006 19:52 I hated socom...never played the online version but I can see how it can be interesting. The main reason I hated socom and most war based fps games is because most of the time you cant even see what your shooting or whats shooting at youbecause the graphix are so garbage but with the ps3 Im excited to see what happends plus with sony directly handleing it damn if they make it anywhere as good looking as god of war that bring it on. Plus about the bought out sony developers saying its easy to develop there might actually be a legit non bias reason for that in my oppinion the company that built the system knows how to use it and Im pretty shure it would train its first party developers on how to use it as to why do the rest dont know yet well thats probobly due to time constraints. I hate MS for being an evil corp and just overall bad customer service and buggy products but I just might buy a 360 if they dramatically slash the price and if PS3 takes tooooo long to come out plus dont forget product shortages so if I cant get my PS3 before next february (07, which is possible) then 360 it is. 14 -

I thought it was a big letdown when it came out on PS2. They were saying it was going to be the Halo "killer" but I'll have to say I didnt see what the big deal was with Halo either. Best fps games out there have to be Doom3 and Far Cry. Definitley looking forward to MGS4, and DMC, and Tekken, oh and GT............looking forward to them all really. I like the PS3 for its RPG's like Dragon Quest and GTA. So thats why i going to get one. ps3 titlesUnregistered - Akakage 01.25.2006 22:34 Hmmm I'm sure most of the people who care thought sony owned the socom developer anyway so this still isn't a big deal, as I don't think it will change Socom 4 that much as Sony has published all 3 socoms to date. But for those who like Socom...good for you..I personally hated the game wasn't even remotely fun to me...but if that's your thing..then by all means enjoy it. Shuichi Virtua Fighter 5 I will most definitely own but It still hasn't been "officially" confirmed for PS3 so I didn't list it. As for Ni-OH..it looked like a NEW version of Dynasty Warriors from the video I saw at E3. I'd have to see more about it before I put it on my games-to-play list. I'm wasn't a big fan of the getaway also. It had some nice concepts in it..but I felt it was a mediocre title. Just another GTA clone with Mini-Coopers (UGH-I HATE THAT CAR). I'll give the new Getaway a chance..but its not a priority. Number #9 is just looking for attention..I tend to ignore philistinism. Racist remarks have no merit and do not belong here or in any other forum. Anyway back to topic..I am more excited about what certain developers have to potential of doing than I am about most titles. Kojima-san, Itagaki-san, Sakaguchi-san(I think ish how u spell it), Naka-san(please Nights: Into Dreams 2 next-gen)..just to name a few. Some of the best developers in the business. I expect great things from these developers and their teams on X360, PS3 and Rev. Not just these teams, Bioware, Obsidian, Namco, Rockstar, Ubisoft..the list goes on...the potential of what they all could create is truly unfathomable. I a4lso expect a few newcomers to really amaze gamers this time around. I'd be content with Ninja Gaiden 2 and Devil May Cry 4 but lucky us we are gonna get much more then just those 2 fantastic games on these new consoles. 26 -

I guess this means there won't be a sequal for the 360. DS and NintendoUnregistered - Akakage 01.26.2006 23:08 Actually DS is like between N64 and PS2 as far as graphics capability. They are better than N64 but not quite ps2..but very close. DS isn't a gimmick as the 2 screens are used for gameplay and offer very "unique" gameplay experiences (which is Nintendo's thing as of late). DS does in a way "change the way games are played", as I'm sure Nintendo is trying to accomplish the same thing with Revolution. Focusing less on graphics and more on GAMEPLAY EXPERIENCES is truly what Nintendo is about these days. So I believe it would be an error in judgement to write DS or Revolution off because they don't have the same raw power as X360, PS3 or PSP. 41 -

If you read above you will see that someone asked me directly what games for PS3 I was personally looking forward to. So I answered their question. Akakage STFU for nobody. You don't like what I post...to bad..get over it or simply don't read it. E3 2K6 will have PS3 games..blah blah blah...by that time..PS3 should be out already as E3 is around the END of Spring. There should be much more PS3 info available before then if Sony plans to make that spring 06 launch window. I can tell you a few things that are gonna happen at E3 2K6..1.) booth babes will be wearing more...already effecting whether or not I want to go. 2.) They'll announce some new Socom game (still don't care). 3.) They'll show more killzone not a fan..so really not interested. I hope your not talkin about that teaser they showed at E3 last year for DMC4 where you see a castle and Dante standing in front it...he points his gun at the camera then shoots and it says DMC. I stayed at Capcom's booth for 15 minutes to see that DMC4 footage and I was utterly pissed because there was no footage...just him standing there. I'm interested in seeing what developers have to offer for PS3 and X360 this year at E3...as long as Ninja Gaiden 2, Jade Empire 2, Devil May Cry 4, Virtua Fighter 5( and maybe Tekken 6...maybe), DOA Code: Cronos, Z.O.E (I know that won't happen but one can dream)..and any other surprises that intrigue me then I'll be happy with the show. Last year E3 was X360 and Booth Babes (R.I.P. skimpy outfits..sniff sniff) this year is X360, PS3 and hopefully Revolution as well. In regards to PS3 upcoming titles; I am not really that excited about them. This feeling of mine is supported largely in the factor that I have yet to see ACTUAL GAMEPLAY of any of these titles. And when I say "ACTUAL GAMEPLAY" I mean an average gamer such as any one of us...standing at a PS3 kiosk within an entertainment/electronics expo/store of some sort ACTUALLY PLAYING ONE OF THE UPCOMING GAMES/DEMO. I am however anxious to see/hear ANYYYYYYYYY form of News/Video about the next ACE COMBAT installment for the PS3...GTA 4 (what other "hood" game you know allows you to fly a FIGHTER JET other than San Andreas? That game was HOT. And regardless of what the HATERS want to say..GTA: SAN ANDREAS CONTINUOSLY HOLDS RANK WITHIN THE GAMESPOT.COM OVERALL MOST POPULAR TOP 10 currently at #2 with a solid "9.6" and did I mention it was a PS2 EXCLUSIVE? WE HAD IT FIRST XBOX fans! and we always will with any GTA game.) GOD OF WAR was so dam fun that I DONT EVEN WANT THEM TO MAKE A PART TWO! I dont know if you know, but the MGS developers have all gone through military training for MGS4, not just sat down and read a Tom Clansey book. Splinter Cell Unregistered - Akakage 01.29.2006 12:19 I think it is erroroneous to say that splinter cell is like doom 1 and MGS is like Doom 3. Splinter Cell has better graphics than MGS while MGS has better gameplay(in my opinion). Both games are fantastic and have great stories and each one of them have pretty realistic animations and hi-tech weaponary. I like MGS a lil more because I think its gameplay is more fun...but to be fair to splinter cell I really haven't played enought of it to judge it fairly. A much better comparison in my view would be Halo vs. Killzone. Halo is more fun than Killzone just like MGS is more fun than Splinter Cell(although Halo is better than Killzone in all aspects graphics, gameplay and weaponary). But too call SPlinter Cell Doom 1 and MGS DOOM 3..especially since Splinter Cell has better graphics is really..is just ridiculous. A better comparison is Halo vs Killzone. 69 -

Besides being technically superior in almost every way the 360 also has a far larger customer base than does the PS3 where it comes to LIVE and online play, and only a moron would argue that. Also, if you really take a good look at PS3 games and Xbox360 games, you'll see that the 360 is really nexgen compared to the PS3's boring titles, but instead every body should stop calling the 360 an Xbox 1.5 of sorts. As of this weekend I have preordered the 360 cause I am really sick of the crappy PC and PS2 graphics. And am patiently waiting for PS3 to flop. I'm strongly advising you, the PS3 is not really what you think it will be. A good advice from a converted Sony fanboy to M$ lover and fanboy: -Sony fanboys u should follow my step in being more open-minded coz I discovered that PS3 is overhyped and wont achieve the hype for the following reasons: 1-we Sony fanboys just will wait till the finally release real info about the ps3 and we're gonna be sooo fcuked off. 2-no hard drive (what's all that about???) 3-deep down you know the games won't look like those well executed cinematics from killzone and metal gear. 4-the cell will seriously underperforms(I remember when we were getting all excited about the frikkin Emotion Engine...! didn't Sony say that was gonna revolutionize the way we play games . And be the death knell for pc games? Oh how we(yes and I)Salivated about the E, E. and what was the end result ... nada, sh1t, diddely squat). 5-X360 is roughly 2x more powerful than PS3,its graphics chip is based on the R600 which isn't even out yet, its also got 3 cores as opposed to 1 on the PS3, 3= better than 1 right? I was dumb ass PS3 fan, I know 360 is going to win this next gen, so I made up stuff to make it sound better, I was a looser. 6-Bill Gates is much richer than Sony, and I discovered that he really cares a lot for us gamers as he announced an optional HD-DVD drive that would be so damn great(I love you so much Mr. Bill Gates). 7-Halo 3, Yup this game would be the best thing on earth, and KillZone really sux balls. 8-I don't understand why so many people anticipate the ps3 to that degree. When Sony hasn't given any concrete ingame play demonstrations. Killzone and MGS4 is a hurdle Sony has made for themselves to try to meet by that time. I don't know when killzone is planned but if it is at ps3 launch than they won't meet that standard. They'll be slightly under and you'll say well its close enough. MGS4 is what 2009 or something.You've got to be kidding me when you say that those graphics are what to expect. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT... You only need one awesome system and it should be the system with the games you like. The only reason to by a second nearly identical system if it has enough exclusive content (that's great and doesn't suck). Then it's justified and the Xbox360 in my opinion doesn't have enough great exclusives. Even if the PS3 equals the xbox360 in performance (not going to happen PS3 will be better -- but trying to be fair) It will be the better value because of the blu-ray HD technology which will happen. Xbox360/MS will have to sell an add-on device (not a smart buy and probably can get a seperate player/recorder for similar price with more features). But hey, if you wanna blow $400 on an 360 and another $400 to $500 on a PS3 for a total of $800 to $900 dollars just to play a couple of exclusive games(not counting the cost of games in this example) is your prerogative -- STUPID -- but your preogative. That's why I've put Nintendo in second above the 360 and dropping the 360 to the Third slot. It's got more "great" exclusive content and a uniqueness to it, such as the controller, and will be "alot" less expensive. Oh, and one more thing, if the Midway announcement about their games using the unreal 3 engine on all platforms (yes they mentioned Revolution as well) is true, then xbox360 fans can start digging their graves. 106 -
