Update: According to an update at TVG the statement issued by Tecmo that brought about the speculation that the Dead or Alive series was about to switch over to the PlayStation3 appears to have been the victim of a typo, with the statement apparently supposed to state that the next two DoA will appear on Xbox 360 and not PlayStation3. Well it was nice while it lasted :) ........................... A recent article in a Japanese newspaper suggested that Team Ninja are currently working on two titles for the PS3. If one of these titles will be Dead Or Alive 4 is still unkown, so for now we can only hope. Dead or Alive made its debut in the Arcades 10 years ago, followed by a Saturn and PlayStation port a few years later. And then shortly after the most excellent Dreamcast port of Dead or Alive 2, the franchise appeared on the PS2 in 2000. So the series is no stranger to the PlayStation platform. However, after the highly successful Dead or Alive 3 that was released on the launch day of the Xbox fall 2002, Tecmo and Microsoft seemed to have formed some sort of love affair. How deep this relationship goes is a bit unclear, but unlike Bungie (Halo) who now is owned by Microsoft, Tecmo still owns the rights to the Dead Or Alive series. So if we will see Dead or Alive on the PS3 will solely be up to Tecmo and Team Ninja. If you look away from any future bribes from Microsoft that is.  Add Comment  1 -

Here's a list of better fighting games: Any game unleashed by Capcom (street fighter and all its spin-offs) Any game unleashed by Namco (Tekken and Soul Calibur) Any game unleashed by Sega (Virtua Fighter and Sonic Fighters) ....by Nintendo (Smash Brothers) by Atari (the Dragon Ball Z games) by Rare (Killer Instinct) by Midway (Mortal Kombat, Gods of War, Primal Rage) by SNK (King of Fighters, Samurai Showdown, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, etc.) and any other I forgot As a fighting game fan, I don't think I've ever played a fighting game as shïtty as this one. Other fighting games have better control and moves, and other things this piece of shït doesn't have. The only good thing about this game is graphics, but it will be owned by Tekken or Virtua Fighter or anything that comes after it for that matter. Look at Tekken for example (Which I think deserves the title "crappiest fighting franchise ever" alot more.), it's like fighting with stiff little puppets. DOA is extremely fluid between combo's, grabs, etc. It's not the best fighting game, but DOA 3 def. is in the top 5 for most fighting game fans. Based purely on gameplay however, there is no denying the top 3 of fighting games. 1. OMF : 2097 2. Killer Instinct 3. Street Fighter / SC / DOA <--- your pick. (it comes down to taste, the first two are arguably the best no matter what.) 7 -

Midway has some of the worst fighting games ever and you had the audacity to claim that...Mortal Kombat, War Gods(not gods of war) and Primal Rage are better than DOA? Dude...War Gods is not only the WORST FIGHTING GAME EVER MADE(with the exception of a few Obscure fighters...TimeKillers comes to mind) it is one of the WORST GAMES ever made period. War Gods was about as much fun as having your left eye plucked out with a hot poker and then having it fried and served to you on a platter while someone is giving you electric shocks. DOA is one of the best franchises in fighting today...especially 3D fighters. The 3 premier 3D fighters are Virtua Fighter(hands down the best...because it has the steepest learning curve, its very deep and its the most realistic), Tekken and Dead or Alive..oh and Soul Calibur(but it's weapon based). Mortal Kombat, while much better in recent years, still isn't half as good as these games. I'm a huge fan of 2D fighters the only problem is that its too easy to corner trap opponents because of the limitations of 2D games. I still love them and will always play 2Dfighters..especially that Rumble Fish...that darn thing is beautiful. And I think someone in here claimed that DMC and God of War owned Ninja Gaiden? Sorry...but no. DMC I love that series...probably my main reason for waiting on PS3. DMC3 was a brilliant game...because they borrowed concepts from Ninja Gaiden and Prince of Persia. I like God of War..it was a masterpiece for PS2 but it pales in comparison to Ninja Gaiden..graphics and gameplay. Neither of those 2 games...as great as they are PUSH you like Ninja Gaiden does. Its AI is smart, the combat is fast and furious and the graphics are fantastic. I bought Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden Black..I still play them to this day...because it is just an incredible game. I'm gonna pick up that DMC3: SE and I'll play that..but at the end of the day...I'm still gonna go back to Ninja Gaiden...easily one of the best(THE BEST) action games ever created on Any Console...with Prince of Persia and DMC fighting for a close second. 35 -

Rumor had it that it was gonna be a PS2 launch title at one time. Itagaki even named some of the things available in the game...such as wall running(Ninja Gaiden arcade), wall jumping(Ninja Gaiden NES), ninpo arts(some taken from NES games) and weapons. Then PS2 came out...DOA port..and rumors of NG on PS2 surfaced(around DMC release). Then Xbox surfaced and NG was confirmed for Xbox with more details available and screens...(shortly thereafter DMC2 released). NG is released...DMC3 announced and borrows concepts from NG..makin DMC3 the best one in the series. Everything in Ninja Gaiden comes from previous Ninja Gaiden games. I'm sure when they release NG2 they will implement more things from past Ninja Gaiden games. For crying out loud NG: Black is just a special edition of the same game..yet many websites have it as a contender of Action/Adventure game of the year...so it must be doing something right. 37 -

Not because he thinks X360 is more powerful..he said PS3 has more raw power..but he claims that the DEVELOPMENT environment on X360 and its services are much better than that of PS3...this being the reasoning why he chose X360 over PS3. Now if the Tecmo higher ups convince him to do NG multi-platform then great...or on PS3 great...but I don't think he's planning on releasing it for PS3..if his past comments are any indication. Team Ninja / Tecmo suck at game developmentUnregistered - xpox 01.14.2006 20:51 Nobody said DMC came before Ninja Gaiden (on the NES). The fact is, DMC was out first as a 3D game, and it was in development waaay before Ninja gaiden on the Dreamcast. It was actually started as a Resident Evil 4, then they scrapped RE4 for a while and made DMC. "DMC3 the best in the series" are you freaking kidding me? You forget that's not a *fact* lol. Anyway, I think the best one is DMC1, then DMC3 returned to its roots because DMC2 was utter crap. Still DMC1 came out before Ninja Gaiden, so it doesn't matter which started development first, you can tell Tecmo borrowed a lot from DMC, otherwise why is it pretty much "the same" engine, except without the style? Fact is, DMC came a lot time before so its natural that NG borrowed something. Since the camera was screwed up in NG, it wasn't that much of a System seller. So they pretty much fixed the camera (nothing new in the game), added a few levels of difficulty (nothing new), included the available downloads (nothing new again); say, they FIXED the game, or rather, launched the original version and not the Beta, added a few new missions, called it a new game and now it gets raving reviews? LOL, I played that game three-four years earlier, it was called Devil May Cry... YAWN. At least you can bet this was a hit in Japan... Oh wait. Seriously, I think it's the best game on Xbox 1, and several games of that genre that are exclusive for PS2 are much better. It just proves how huge of a paperweight the Xbox 1 is. Anyway, anyone that says "THE ONLY ONES THAT DONT LIKE DOA ARE PS3 FANS LOLZ!" is just plain stupid. Just because you don't like an exclusive game it doesn't mean you hate the system that game is on. Seriously, nobody that has solely an Xbox knows anything about games/consoles (at least all the Xbox owners I know never had a console or bought their last console between 8 and 12 years before they bought their Xbox, which proves how they stopped giving a shït about games until a "BIG X LOLZ" came out, which proved how image and marketing are worth a lot more to americans than a bunch of good, exclusive games and features (not gimmicks) that were not offered before), unless they are into mediocre titles or into FPS only, but that's why there are PCs for. Even nintendo, which was at a huge disadvantage compared to the Xbox in turd (<--on purpose) party support, DVD playability, less power, less buttons, less backup money, less marketing muscle, no hard drive, no online play, had better exclusives than Xflop this generation, and they sold almost the same amount of consoles as the Xbox! (Give or take); hell, and they even made profit! Maybe Microsoft should have used a mix of Nintendo's and Sony's business model and they would have gotten to 1st place in no time, but it seems that they just love Sega's ancient corporate policy: "Offer a lot of crap nobody needs or cares about and a lot of people that want to feel part of a relatively cool group will buy a console despite not knowing what it is for". Ninja GaidenUnregistered - Akakage 01.14.2006 23:25 DMC wasn't better then Ninja Gaiden...the reviews prove that....as far as action games go I can't think of many(any) that have gotten better reviews than Ninja Gaiden...and the best part about it is that...Ninja Gaiden was team ninja's first adventure game...EVER. One can only imagine..how much better Ninja Gaiden 2 will be on the next gen consoles. What exactly did Ninja Gaiden borrow from DMC?? It sure wasn't the engine as I have both games and they play nothing alike. The Swordplay isn't even remotely similiar. The adventure elements aren't similiar either. The only real similiarity between those games are the fact that both games are 3D. All the elements from Ninja Gaiden have been present since 1989...when Dante was just a twinkle in Sparda's eye(Ifanue series creator....I think that's his name). So I'm curious to find out what exactly in your mind Ninja Gaiden has taken from DMC? I love both series..but Ninja Gaiden is the KING of action games...there isn't another game out now that can claim that title. That being said..I can't wait to see what Dante is gonna do on DMC4...that teaser at E3 was so short...waiting at capcom's booth for 15min. to see it..wasn't worth the 2 second teaser that was shown. 47 -

Whether NGB is better than DMC or DMC3 is questionable, but it is not better than God of War. God of War is authentically the "KING of action games", and reviews say so. Unregistered - Reviews or not 01.15.2006 14:14 Actually, averaging out all the reviews for the games (like metacritic does) shows that God of War does worse than Ninja Gaiden AND Devil May Cry. But that's not the point, reviews or not God of War is THE mainstream action game. It has great graphics (mainly due to artwork more than anything else) and some fun gameplay, but comparing the gameplay element (Essentially the most important in an action game, replay value comes to mind) between God of War and Ninja Gaiden, NG wins hands down. Everyone that has played these games will confirm this, unless....you're not that good. Then NG can get very irritating, as it is probably the hardest game on all 3 current gen consoles. 51 -

Unregistered - Guys... 01.16.2006 16:57 Are you people serious? I don't care what kind of fanboy you are, stating DOA or TEKKEN!?!? are the best fighting game franchises is ridiculous. Tekken is a wooden piece of crap, an animators worse nightmare and ridiculously lame combo's. DOA might look fluid and well animated, the balance is nowhere near acceptable and the feeling you're actually hitting someone seems missing. Both are average to good fighting games at times, and people stating that one is better than the other are only stating their opinion, because there is no clear winner. Virtua Fighter is probably better than both, SC is ALOT better, but weapon based. Killer Instinct, Street Fighter, and OMF: 2097 for those with a PC are the best fighting games. So for the real fans, the best bet would be to wait for Virtua Fighter. Both the new DOA and Tekken I'm sure people will enjoy, but stop acting like one is so much better than the other, or either are some holy grail in the fighting game franchise because they're both mediocre at best. 58 -

Well I liked DOA2 on PS2 it was quite good for a casual gamer like me, survival mode and 3Dness and tag teamness together all made the game a million times better than its contemporary Tekken Tag Team Tournament, after that though the X-Box came out and DOA3 was exclusively on it. In fact you can see why Tecmo didn't release any more titles on PS2, being such graphics whores and all but that reason goes when you compare PS3 to X360 (please stop doing that btw) so meh who knows? I own the latest Tekken and SC titles but DOA has something interesting and different to offer, it's more intuitive and tactical, what with holds and stuff so I would buy it if it came out on PS3, sadly this is looking a bit unlikely but hehe who really cares it's not like I live for gaming ^_^ Add Comment |
