SONY OFFICIALLY revealed that its RSX graphic part will be kind of Shader Model 3.0 compliant. You cannot actually talk about Shader Model 3.0 if you don't talk Windows DirectX but Shader model 3 has become the best way to describe how programmable a core really is.

Oh dear, this one is going to leave a big mess. According to Extremetech.com, a company named Ageia who is working on next-gen hardware and software based physics engines for use in gaming worlds has recently stated that only the PS3 and PC’s with the Ageia’s PhysX hardware will be able to use all the engines features.

At the game developers conference, held at the Cafe Royal, Sony officially revealed many details about upcoming Playstation 3 hardware. Sony have stated earlier that the PlayStation 3 will support up to seven Bluetooth 2.0 compliant controllers and feature six USB slots, but today they told the developers at the conference that it will also support a keyboard and mouse.

Hopewell Junction (NY) - In his first in-depth interview since releasing the version 1.0 specification for IBM's Cell microprocessor last week, the principal developer of the CPU's innovative new synergistic processor elements (SPE) tells Tom's Hardware Guide he sees Sony's PlayStation 3 - the first major platform to utilize Cell - as the driver for a new general-purpose programming environment, using Linux but bypassing the PC.

A few days ago a quote from PlayStation Magazine caused a lot of confusion. It said that NVIDIA supposedly had admitted that its latest PC graphics chip, the GeForce 7800, is more powerful then the RSX GPU to be featured in the PS3. As expected this story didn’t hold water as it now turns out that the whole story erupted when somebody miss read the original article and posted about it on a message board. Several big news sites jumped on the story and all hell broke lose.

Tecmo president Junji Nakamura has, for the first time, publicly hinted at PS3 support from his company. According to Japanese site Mainichi Interactive, Nakamura revealed to investors and press on the 24th that development for the platform has now entered into the company's sights. Tecmo is the company behind the popular Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden games.

Currently a format battle is taking place between HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc. Supporters of both formats agree that compromise would benefit the entire industry but talks have stalled and time is running out for agreement on the future format of DVDs if companies are to hit product schedules. HD-DVD backers will soon need to begin final design and development of products if they are to meet their roll-out schedule.

WarDevil is promised to go beyond the conventions of a normal video game. Players will take the role of the mysterious WarDevil in a post-apocalyptic world, ruled by the Chun Federation.
