Some kind of sneaky sales trick from Amazon.com? Or Sony’s reply to Microsoft’s big announcement earlier today? Amazon.com is already taking pre-orders for the PS3, and they’re selling it for $299.99, which is way cheaper than what Sony has hinted at all summer. Apparently you can’t pre-order them for real just yet, only enter your email address so that Amazon.com can contact you once it’s available for pre-order. What to make of this we don’t know yet, but $299 for a PS3 sure is a good deal.
